Ron DeSantis softens abortion position for New Hampshire audience

'I'm conscious of the diversity of opinion in the United States.'

Ron DeSantis spent the last two legislative sessions tightening Florida’s abortion law, but you wouldn’t know it from his choice-friendly comments in New Hampshire, where he again stressed he didn’t want to Make America Florida when it comes to reproductive rights.

“I’m conscious of the diversity of opinion in the United States, New England is different than Wisconsin is different than Georgia. You know, but at the end of the day, you know, we do want to promote a culture of life,” DeSantis said, adding that it’s up to Congress and not him to tighten national laws against the procedure.

“The Congress is the one that actually, you know, does the legislation. I think if you looked at what’s happened there, there’s not been a lot of productive things that have been done across a wide variety of issues,” the Governor added, during an interview on WMUR’s “Conversations with the Candidate.”

The Governor continues to soften his abortion message as a candidate.

On Fox News “Special Report” during an interview last week with Bret Baier, the Florida Governor again explained why President DeSantis wouldn’t push for a national version of the state’s Heartbeat Protection Act.

“Now, I also acknowledge and understand that in my region of the country and down in the Southeast, it’s a little bit different than where we are up here in New England. I don’t think New England states would probably, you know, adopt something along the lines of a heartbeat (bill),” DeSantis told Baier.

DeSantis’ donors that he is emboldened to told him to move to the Left or else.

deepstate reboot

deepstate reboot

deepstate reboot

wash, rinse, repeat

eventually they’ll understand he’s not the candidate the liberal media was hoping for.

He's simply acknowledging that it's a state issue. He's said over and over that life begins at conception and abortion is wrong. Unfortunately the Florida legislature handed him and either/or on abortion.

Looks like a case of skipping down the yellow brick road as a governor, then stepping in it.

First President Trump softens his stance on abortion saying he now supports it in cases of rape and incest.

Now DeSantis softens his.

The unborn don’t stand a chance because they can’t vote.

Agree.

Governor of a state is different than a President of all the states.

I support Trump and RDS (as my Guv), but some Only-Trumpers are as bad as the Never-Trumpers...

I will never vote for the guy, but I can’t blame him for doing this because he’ll never win otherwise.

Oh yeah. You should see Florida. A liberals dream. You’re a nut to think DeSantis is a RINO. Problem with you types is you are dazzled by speeches and catchy phrases. I like to see results. That’s why you drool all over Vilek. He gives a good speech but his results are dismal. Vilek love transgenders in the military, immigrants from Asia, abortion, and does not believe fraud occurred in 2020. You sure can pick ‘em.

What a whuss! It’s simply up to each of the individual states and he could easily have said that. Then the people of those states can petition their state government to address the issue. Anything else is BS and misleading.

A few months ago he was going to NH and talking making America Florida, the Florida Blueprint, yada yada , yada. And any of the other candidates who disagree is a liberal. Now he realizes running a country is a little bit different and he doesn’t have a prayer and is 40 points down and losing donors so he has to get rid of all of that and reboot AGAIN.

DeSantis has succumbed to his handlers. Their positions are how he would govern as POTUS. No thanks.

"Ron DeSantis softens abortion position for New Hampshire audience"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Constitutionally low-information Desantis doesn't seem to understand that federal Democratic and RiNO lawmakers don't have the constitutional power to buy the votes of pro-abortion voters to stay in power by taxing and spending to murder unborn children, the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade a MAJOR constitutional scandal imo.

For 50 years we said the role of the Federal goverment in abortion is nowhere in the Constitution. That was consistent with all other conservative positions on guns, free speech, trade, marketing, education, etc.

Santis is (more or less) true to the constitution in this case. To say NH is not FL is to say we have an Constitution that must be followed.

Those who throw away the Constitution to push a narrow agenda had best realize that everyone else .... those currently in court.... those worried about their guns.... etc is depending on the Constitution that is being thrown under the bus by a few.

I was exactly where you were until yesterday. DeSantis stabbed us in the back by saying all the vote fraud theory’s have been proven false. It was something that could have easily come out Pelosi’s mouth. Unforgivable. Ron is dead to me.
