I am going to assume Ikeon, you are one of the older generation. I am also going to assume, because of posting here, you are most likely a college graduate, are or have been married, and own or have owned a house and a new car.

Look at the average debt load a graduate in STEM will carry, the cost of an apartment, and the cost of a used car.

Telling them to pay off the loan, which they often took before you can sign many contracts, and not have enough to have the life that their parents had is going to make people angry and hopeless. I have a few mentorees that did what they were “supposed” to. Got degrees in solid areas, with good job prospects. Tried to save money.

They can’t afford an apartment. Let alone a car. Family? No chance. 20 years of debt. House? Nope.

So you have a solid block of people who see a bunch of older retirees living a life they could never imagine, and demanding they pay more taxes for the retirees?

Hate. That is what is building is hate. Based from hopelessness, no future, and lack of any paths forward.

Everything you posted, I have heard about boomers. Many I have seen.

So rather than bitching, which is fun and enjoyable I admit, go talk to these younger people. See what they are facing.

I am a gen X. The middle child. Which is ok, but I have seen the doors close on these kids. My boss is 10 years younger than me, has four kids. A unicorn in his generation. But he has been hit three economic crashes, two layoffs, and every time he gets a little breathing room he losses his grub stake over some sort of thing like 2009 or COVID. And he is the lucky one.

Most are not.

these people are facing another day of sitting there staring at their phones, Instead of going out with friends, they talk to each other in texts.

I dont blame them for their parents never showing them how to be an adult, letting them take full responsibility for their actions.

if I was 20 something today Id be working 2 jobs, investing, buying a home, sacrificing. going to church and getting involved with the community.

you want what your parents have? its gonna take 20 years , 1st thing.. throw the phone away !
