Video posted Semafor reporter Shelby Talcott shows Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Saturday campaigning for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination by shoving sticks in hardboiled eggs at the Iowa State Fair.
The video shows DeSantis more engaged in how to prepare the eggs than engaging with voters coming up to take the eggs. In turn, the voters don’t seem that interested in DeSantis. Granted, it is a thirty-three second video, however no one engages DeSantis in campaign talk, with one person calling out, “We’re just here for the eggs!” One woman who said, “Thank you!” to DeSantis was given only a glancing smile in return as DeSantis stayed focused on preparing the eggs. Another woman who said “Thank you!” barely got a look in her direction from DeSantis.

TGP’s Cassandra Fairbanks reported earlier Saturday on Trump supporters who showed up at DeSantis’s stops at the fair and a plane that flew overhead with the message, “Be Likeable, Ron!”

He’s clearly talking to the woman beside him when the “customers” said thank you.. While I am not a fan of Desantis, I really don’t think this clip is an example of much of anything.
I’m solidly for Trump, but things like helping to prepare goodies at a state fair is just typical campaign activity and not really worthy of criticism. 🤷🏻♀️
(I support and supported Trump 100% but he can never keep his silly, stupid, unpresidential mouth shut and I worry about LOSING THE ELECTION to his goofball mouth.)

I was an early RD fan. Still am as governor. And yes, this is a bit overblown. Still I no longer think he’s ready for the big time. Needs more time in the oven. Find your center, stop listening to advisors, and stick to your guns come help or high wafers. ( Guaffrettes)

This is the narrative that was created by the GOPe never Trump donor class. It is a false narrative.
Trump has many Washingtonian (George) qualities and really “seems” to understand core constitutional principles. I love him for that.
Unfortunately his boastful, infantile, frankly silly side makes it easy for our enemies (such as Dems and the State media) to defeat him.
Trump had 4 years to become Presidential. Did he blow it? He sure blew the election, and, yes, they cheated.
We CANNOT give the Biden crime family our country again.
This is a MAJOR war and it takes brains and calculation to win it... Not “covfefe.”
When I said “I’m not a fan” I meant as a presidential candidate... I don’t hate the guy, but its pretty clear 2 things.
1 he isn’t ready for national prime time. Governing a state effectively with a legislature you control is a far cry from national politics. I think he’s a sharp guy and a decent administrator.. but that in and of itself does not make one a great national candidate.
2 He’s just not a great retail politician... He really isn’t. Its pretty obvious watching him flail about to see why, without Trump swooping in at the last minute he would have lost in 2018 to a corrupt drug addict.
With both of those thing said, I don’t think this clip shows anything negative about DeSantis, its just the usual white noise during primaries and campaigns where folks/media etc try to create something that isn’t there... He’s helping prep the eggs and talking to the woman he’s working with.
5 minutes later, he could have been in full on Politician mode and greeting every customer etc, or he could have been doing that for 15 minutes before this 1 minute clip.. who knows, claiming this is some example of his retail politicing weakness... (while there are lots of examples to find) this clip doesn’t seem like one of them.
The thing is, the press will always find something to twist regardless of the candidate. By now you know what Trump is. Even if he doesn't say anything from here on out, it won't matter, he's already been defined. One thing though, is I start to see people who never cared for Trump, starting to respect him more because they see he doesn't back down, despite everything they've thrown against him. Will that be enough for 24? We shall see.
He abandoned the people of Florida that voted for him last fall. He also pulled a Charlie Crist, and had the State Legislature make sure he didn't have to resign his job to run for President, signing the new law on the day he announced his candidacy. That tells me a lot more about DeSantis's character than his putting sticks in hard boiled eggs.

Check your history...Trump grew his support by more than 17.5% between first election and second.
You have to GO a LONG WAY BACK to find another president who managed, that, there certainly isn’t one who managed that in
the last 100 years, at least not when their initial election was a 2 way race... Regan did, but his first election was a 3 way race.. not a 2 way race.. Nixon as well but his first eleciotn as well was a 3 way race.
Trump did not “blow” the election, they cheated him, period.

Yeah, the Floridians who voted for the person who promised them he'd finish his whole term. What has DeSantis done for any Floridians that were rounded up, and are facing charges, or doing time for January 6th? Tell me what he's specifically done for them. Obviously, you're really not too interested in their condition, or you wouldn't have made a joke of it.
I’m voting for Trump now….especially now….because I don’t care for eggs on sticks.
