President Biden tops former President Trump by 5 points among registered voters in a 2024 hypothetical matchup, new polling shows.
Asked who they’d back if Trump and Biden were their respective party’s nominees, 45 percent of registered voters said they’d cast their ballots for Biden, while 40 said the same for Trump, according to the survey from The Economist-YouGov.
Seven percent said “other,” 4 percent weren’t sure and another 3 percent said they would not vote.
The new results show Biden’s lead widened since last month, when the pollsters found him and Trump at 43 and 40 percent, respectively.

Yeh, sure! 😂😂
GIGO
He wakes up angry, but who wouldn't if you had to drive a bike to work?
Yeah, they're always selling The Horse Race - when we all know that the "election" takes place in the back rooms of places like the TCF in DeToilette or the State Farm Arena in Fulton County, Georgia.
Through all the upside down flags...
This is not a pubbie poll can’t be right...LOL
I have examined methodology.
Weighting of the poll was according to an American Community Survey of 2019 leading into the 2020 year.
Dem 33, Rep 31. That’s all they report, which would mean Independents 36%. The ABC poll of this past weekend was 25 Dem, 25 Rep and 47 Independent. The result of this poll derives almost entirely from this mix and a 3% MOE.
What is maybe more important than in the past is Independents are dominating surveys. And they tend to be populist and care far more about the Swamp than esoteric Tax/Spend.
fixed it.
This is part of the DNC strategy now. Turn out an extra half million ballots in places that you control, like Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Other than Bush in 2004, no Republican, not McCain, Romney, or Trump, has won a majority of the popular vote in this century. It is possible that the one party Democratic states of New York and California inflate the popular vote totals even though the Democrats will win. However, the demographic reality exists. If a moderate Republican like Nikki Haley or Mike Pence wins the GOP nomination, they may pick up suburban moderates but lose much of the MAGA vote. The conservative base is way more alienated than they were in the last two decades. If Trump wins the nomination, it will be difficult for him to expand his base. The only chance I see is if what remains of the white blue collar Democratic vote and minority voters disaffected with the upper middle class leadership of the Democrats defect in significant numbers.
See, that’s where you’re wrong. Unlike you at the bar or the all you can eat buffet, some men have their limits. ✌️☮️
If Trump can get his negatives down he is a shoe in, unless he goes against RFKjr.
Who he picks as his VP is going to be very important. I know most of us hate this but we have to be real. He should pick a Hispanic VP since that voter group will swing.
Yes Biden is so far behind Trump his party even has a scrap sticker on him.
I think the anticipated shutdown probably hurts trump since he’s coordinating it.
Funny. ABC is a hero but this is not. Ok.
DU beckons you!
This is the correct answer at this point in the cycle.
Your poor thing. You think this poll is about DeSantis? Yieks.
Any poll that has Biden up over any Republican candidate is suspect. Granted, majority of Democrats will vote for Biden, breathing or not.
