The person of interest in the Maine mass shooting on Wednesday evening liked a number of posts from right-wing and conservative figures, according to screen grabs from his social media accounts.
Maine State Police have published the identity of a person of interest in the major incident. Robert Card, 40, was described by police as a firearms instructor believed to be in the Army Reserve and assigned to a training facility in Saco, Maine. He remains at large and is said to be "armed and dangerous."
Card's Facebook and X, formerly Twitter, accounts have now been deactivated. It is unclear if Card was responsible or if they were suspended by X and Meta. According to screen grabs and videos from what is allegedly Card's Facebook page, he finished a 20-year career in the army earlier this year. Newsweek is unable to verify this information at this time.
A video of Card's X account, using the username @RobertC20041800, shows he was interested in right-wing figures. His "liked" tweets include content published by Donald Trump Jnr., Tucker Carlson and Dinesh D'Souza. He also liked tweets by former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan, according to the screenshots.
Card liked a tweet from the former president's son regarding trans and non-binary "mass shooters" from March this year, which reads: "Given the incredible rise of trans/non-binary mass shooters in the last few years… by far the largest group committing as a percentage of population… maybe, rather than talking about guns we should be talking about lunatics pushing their gender affirming bullsh*t on our kids?"
Another tweet he liked, from Tucker Carlson…reads: "The trans movement, it turns out, is the mirror image of Christianity, and therefore its natural enemy. People who believe they're God can't stand to be reminded that they're not."

“ The only more dyke vehicle than a Subaru Outback is the Subaru Forester.”
The wife and I have a 14 year old Forester, and it runs fine, with the exception of a few weird and expensive problems. It holds three bales of straw and handles well in mud and snow. I’m 6’3” and Mrs. VanShuyten is 5’7”, and we both can comfortably drive it. I’m not in love with it like I was with my ‘68 AMC Javelin, but it’s a good knock-around car.
The saleswoman, however, was a big, mustachioed woman wearing a plaid flannel shirt and jeans and Timberland boots.
Add to your observations the question of why, given his mental health state and previous threats, the shooter’s weapons had not been seized under the state’s red flag laws (called “Yellow Paper” in Maine)?
Of course, there is a lot of traffic on Google this morning:
https://www.google.com/search?q=maine+red+flag+laws&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#ip=1
Superficially, the Maine approach seems pretty conservative. It requires the concern be raised in a court by relatives/friends/colleagues and that in that it a psychiatric assessment of the person be made before seizing their weapons.
Since the shooter was hospitalized this summer, questions have got to be asked as to whether the Yellow Paper process had even been started. And, if it had, where the process stood in seizing the shooter’s weapons.
If it bleeds, it leads.
To the point that my daughter sent her letters from LAMBCA(It stands for Lesbian Automobile of Club of America) or something like that. It is real organization that has a website. So, my daughter took the heading off their website and sent her auntie letters congratulating her on the recent Subaru Outback purchase and would she like to join them for an upcoming rally. She would send her an annual letter on her birthday too. This went on for several years. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when she received those letters.
Mentally ill people exist in both parties. Apolitical as well. It’s irrelevant. If he preferred pizza, do we blame all pizza eaters? He wasn’t radicalized like Islam because he saw a tweet or watched the news. He was mentally ill and it was known.
We have a Subaru Outback, and we are conservative.

Same here. The wife drives an Outback.
I had the 2004 Forester and loved it - my 2nd favorite car. But my all-time favorite car was the 1972 Datsun 240Z.
Today, now in my late 60’s, if I could crawl into the 240Z, I’d have to call 911 to help drag me out of it...
I don’t know. I almost bought a Forester. It came in a green I liked. Rode really smooth. It was in the top three of 12 different SUV’s I test drove.
I went with a Rogue because it was larger and cost thousands less. I don’t regret it due to the size and it has given me no grief, but it is not quite as comfortable as it was on the test drive.
In the case of Jeremy Christian, the man who killed two people and wounded a third on a Portland train, the media cherry picked from his social media. They turned him into a right wing extremist while in reality he was a passionate atheist and socialist Democrat.
Look he was a 20 year veteran and looking at the dems for the past 3 weeks (or longer)...
Dem neighbors, dem governor and dem legislators well...
I don’t want to yuck your yum, but the Subaru brand, including the Outback, has a notable following in the LGBTQ+ community because of the company’s pro-gay advertising in the 1990s and 2000s.

I’m conservative and drive a 2016 Outback.
It’s an affordable AWD car for an area that gets a lot of snow, and will probably not rust out in a few years like some cars.
Really? Never knew! I tell you, Its fast, it’s safe, it’s durable, it’s all wheel drive, it’s dependable, holds it’s value pretty well. I have not been approached by any lbgtqrxyz people wanting to be special friends so no worries. If it makes you feel better my other car is a truck. 3500 ram diesel. It’s a dually.
Maybe some do.
I don’t dislike Subaru’s - solid Japanese cars. The stuff they’ve done in the World Rally Championship proves they can be a real serious car. But it is upsetting they were an early company to sell out to the gay agenda, kinda of like Ikea.
