A Project Baltimore investigation exposes serious allegations that some Baltimore City schools continue to falsify student report cards.
Tamika Harrison is a Baltimore City mother who spoke with Project Baltimore back in 2017, saying her son was being cheated out of an education.
“The African Americans are filling up with prisons; they are filling up the graves,” Harrison said at the time. “I don’t want this for my son.”
Back in 2017, Harrison was upset with the grades her son had received on his report card, including two As, two Bs, and a C. It seemed like a good marking period, except Harrison’s son had a medical condition and wasn’t in school.
“If he gets As and Bs, dammit, it better be because he’s earning them,” Harrison told Project Baltimore.
Six years later, Harrison says her son’s report card has been falsified again.
He’s now 18 and attends Renaissance Academy in West Baltimore. FOX45 News is not naming or showing him. On his most recent progress report, it shows he’s completed 103.5 service-learning hours.
“It’s fraudulent as can be,” Harrison said. “If that's not breaking a law, I don't know what is.”
In Maryland, to graduate from high school, students must earn 21 course credit hours in approved subjects and complete a minimum of 75 service-learning hours.
State law defines service-learning hours as “an unpaid activity completed by the student” which must meet a “need in the community.” Examples include honoring veterans, promoting literacy, or supporting animal welfare.
With more than 103 hours, Harrison’s son has already exceeded the number of service-learning hours he needs to graduate. But, according to Harrison, he didn’t do any of it.

Payoff is on its way to shut up Ms Harrison.
I know of more than one kid whose performances were overinflated they flopped when they got to college. I know of two who lost their full ride scholarships one switched out of engineering. Smart kid too. They didn’t challenge him in HS
Parents want grades Numbers. Not education. Then they’re sorry.
“The African Americans are filling up with prisons; they are filling up the graves,” ...
There’s a reason for that.
There’s a reason for that.
Liberals: "Well, if you just had free and easy access to abortions, neither of those would be a problem!" (/Pelosi)
Three cheers for Ms. Harrison. I hope her complaint gets wide coverage, and something is done to fix the problem.
But I doubt that will happen. Public schools are all about image these days. Gotta keep those graduation rates high! And Ms. Harrison will probably keep voting Democrat.
As a side story, the urban school district where I taught has a 50% minimum grade policy. Suppose a student shows up for a test, writes his name on the paper, then goes to sleep. He gets 50 points.
To hell with that, says I. I’m giving that student a 0. But I’m outfoxed. The district’s computers were programmed to turn any score less than 50 into a 50.
So let’s say a student actually scores 0, 0, and 80 on a course’s three exams.
He gets 50, 50, and 80. The average is 60, and he passes. But he knows - at best - only 1/3 of the material.
Oh, and did students quickly learn how to game the system? You betcha.
Ping!.................
Many. Yep.
BUT-—SCHOOLS get more money when kids are “performing well”
Well, how else are they going to close the school performance gap between the races?
Parents put the schools in charge. The education of children is the responsibility of the parents. The school is there to assist. Period
Kids know this. It’s natural law.
With family members in public education, I can confirm that the principal in your post is quite accurate and widespread.
Teachers grades routinely modified against their protests to pass failing students and improve school graduation rates.
I had to check to see if this was The Babylon Bee.
A parent with integrity. Nice to know they still exist.
He’s now 18 and attends Renaissance Academy in West Baltimore.
Its all about the bucks. What some see as helping Blacks out is really hurting them. It makes it seem that life is a give away—free grades with no work .When young blacks see Rap Stars or Athletes as the only way towards success. It doesn’t give them the skills they need to survive in the real world.
The next thing, then, is to make other students (and yourself) suffer more by administering an exam four days a week?
Yep.
50 years ago I had a few teachets who “graded on the curve”. Do if the teacher did a poor job and no one really undersyood the material, the student getting one-third of the exam correct BUT doing best of the class, was awarded an A!
As a student,I hated “grading on the curve”.The lazy loved it.
