Donald Trump 'fears Supreme Court could BACK Colorado's decision to take him off the ballot and that three conservative justices he appointed won't want to be seen as political'

Donald Trump has expressed concern that the Supreme Court could back attempts by Colorado and Maine to block him from the Republican primary ballot, according to reports.

Both states have moved to exclude Trump over his role in the January 6, 2021, attack by his supporters on the Capitol.

The states have accepted legal challenges to Trump's nomination that cite Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which says office holders cannot 'have engaged in insurrection or rebellion'.

Trump has privately expressed concerns that the Supreme Court, to which he appointed three conservative justices while president, may side with Colorado and Maine so as not to appear 'political', The New York Times reported.

Despite the conservative supermajority on the bench the former president is worried the court will rule against him, a source told the Times.

“The Mail quoting the NYT”

All we need is the “via yahoo.news” and it would be absolutely complete BS

Baloney.
The conservative members of the Supreme Court know we go to civil war mode if they validate Colorado and Maine.

What is their source? Taking him off the ballot IS the definition of being political.

The Election of 1860 kind of stands out as precedent. 8 Southern states did not allow Lincoln’s name to appear on their ballot. This occurence was never addressed in SCOTUS decisions or in Law.

Of course

I also a firm desantis supporter but will support trump 120% if he is the nominee

That’s what people on this board don’t understand, I prefer Desantis as he might be able to bring in the independents that trump might not

Desantis is trump but without the noise.

DeSantis is almost as good as Trump as to policy, but DeSantis is a lawyer that knows how to implement policy.

DeSantis has no inner need to be liked, because if he did, he’d have dropped out due to his poll numbers.

Trump is a people person. He loves people unless they have done him wrong. That means good poll numbers, but also the inability to select good people only. DeSantis will select good people for all departments if elected as President.

The WOKE commie tactic of placing intellectually/emotionally and ethically corrupt commies in positions of power under the guise of ‘social justice’ has been outed... and Trump stopped the destruction of the Supreme Court. I’m guessing our highest Court will still be fair.\

Not so true for the DOJ or Harvard... corrupt and stupid and infiltrated to the bone.

“ I would prefer DeSantis”

As president?

Why?

I think we’re all a bit worried the SCOTUS will chicken out.

Trump hasn’t been charged or convicted of insurrection, case dismissed.

DeSantis is nothing like Trump in any way. He is a total mess of a candidate.

Justices appointed by Trump are Trump justices—or had better be.

There is NOTHING to worry about..the decision will be 9-0 and the colorado BS will be overturned..heck even some Dems say there is NO basis for this..you can’t have an insurrection against yourself which is what the left is basically accusing Trump of doing..trying to overthrow himself

Nah. Even if they had a deference to states rights, this is a federal constitutional issue. Even the wise Latina and the other rat hacks on the court will be convinced that that letting this stand would essentially blow up the constitutional order. I’m predicting that Roberts will round up all 9 votes to throw this out on narrow grounds, perhaps the fact that the relevant section of the 14th Amendment says Congress can enforce it by appropriate legislation, but never has. In other words, it’s not self executing and states can’t fill in that blank

The concurrences by Thomas and Alito are going to be epic. They’re being written as we speak

“ Roberts will persuade Kavanagh and ACB on this.”

No doubt. We know Epstein-John will almost always rule against Trump. And Kavanaugh and ACB were just horrible picks.
