Chicago suburbs pass their own ordinances
Lawmakers in Chicago suburbs in recent days have approved new laws similar to the busing ordinance in the nation’s third-most-populous city that aims to streamline migrant drop-offs and stop buses from leaving new arrivals “in the middle of traffic, on random street corners and at O’Hare International Airport,” Chicago officials have said.
Texas has sent over 28,000 asylum-seekers to Chicago since August 2022, according to Friday numbers from Abbott’s office.
“This was a tough one, because we don’t want to look like we don’t care, but we have to move forward and get a handle on all of this,” Councilperson Jan Quillman of Joliet said of the ordinance in her city that passed unanimously.
Snip In Hinsdale, the penalty for violating the ordinance is a $750 fine for each passenger, and buses could be seized and impounded. The community of Wilmington, south of Chicago, passed a similar ordinance Tuesday, said its mayor, Ben Dietz

Triple the number of buses. Then sue for interfering with interstate commerce.
In cases such as Ward v. Maryland, 79 U.S. 418 (1871), the Slaughter-House Cases, 83 U.S. 36 (1873) and US v. Harris, 106 U.S. 629 (1883), STATES have the authority to protect freedom of movement.
Do STATES have the authority to restrict freedom of movement......of, say, illegal aliens?
If states DO have that authority, then wouldn’t Texas be able to illegal alien travel INTO their state?
So many unanswered questions.
But the Constitution’s Privileges & Immunities clause is quite clear that the states cannot impede the travel of people in the USA.

I’m sure there’s a rule that makes it illegal for interstate travel to be influenced by one state over another. However, that would require the federal government to do something about it. Or someone filing a case in the federal court.

States have “police power,” the broad authority to do what is necessary to provide for their people’s general health and welfare. But there are two relevant limitations on that power: the commerce clause and the privileges and immunities clause.How ironic it would be if SCOTUS upheld the states rights to ban entry of immigrants on health and disease grounds. It would vindicate President Trump's remark in the summer of 2015 that they "aren't sending us their best."Both can be thought of as anti-discrimination rules. The commerce clause (by judicial interpretation, not its text) prevents states from discriminating against the commerce of other states, and the privileges and immunities clause prevents states from discriminating against the citizens of other states. It also protects the right to travel between the states from unreasonable restrictions.
The Supreme Court has long upheld quarantine laws against commerce clause challenges. In Oregon-Washington Railroad v. Washington (1926), for example, the Supreme Court recognized that “it is well settled that a state, in the exercise of its police power, may establish quarantines against human beings, or animals, or plants” that may spread disease to the state even if those quarantines negatively affect interstate commerce.

The irony would be if a state banned entry of immigrants on health and disease grounds, while the federal government allows entry of immigrants with willful disregard for health and disease grounds.
Biden is going to SCOTUS to allow Border Agents to cut Texas razor wire. What if Texas argues that they put the wire up so that they can screen immigrants for health and disease at "designated entry points" in Texas, and that the wire is needed to both control the flow of migrants to the designated entry points, and to prevent people with diseases or health issues from crossing into dangerous desert terrain where they will be likely to die?

The part of the movie Bound For Glory* that I find triggering is that California set itself up as a place native born American citizens were not allowed to enter. Like a foreign country requiring a passport to get past California Gestapo soldiers. There were no jobs where they used to live, there was no welfare and even the churches were adamantly selfish.
These people all were willing to work.

Yep. Abbott needs to charge El Presidente, Opendoor, a fee for every illegal alien he provides with access to America. Assisting the illegals with access to America is a criminal enterprise. Lopez-Opendoor should be arrested and if the Mexicans don’t like it, we can discuss that with the azhos too.
Well, then we’ll just dump them off in the surrounding outskirts of those cities, towns, suburbs etc…Eventually, they’ll make their way to their friendly nearby utopian sanctuary areas! Hell if they can walk thousands of miles through the jungles and hills to reach our borders surely they can walk a few extra miles to reach those sanctuary places.
