“My initial reaction is that he’s so desperate to get national attention," she said. "The men and women didn’t sign up to be used as political stunts, and that’s what this is.”
The Florida State Guard was re-established by the legislature in 2022. A staff analysis of last year’s expansion bill states it can only operate, "with the jurisdiction as considered necessary by the Governor.”

I would venture that politicians who go on the record calling help for Texas against a foreign invasion to be a political stunt have loyalties toward keeping the invasion going and empowering Democrat lefties.
I believe this is at the request of Texas. Texas is being overran by illegal invaders. They have been requesting help.
It is controversial; Biden doesn't like what DeSantis is doing.

State Guard is different than the Florida Army National Guard. State Guard cannot be federalized if Biden federalizes the FLARNG.

A closer reading implies this was the knee-jerk reaction of Democrat Fentrice Driskoll.

I think it was presented that way on purpose to give the impression even Republicans in the Florida Senate oppose DeSantis.
