For the first time in my life, I’m now beginning to think Britain is finished
The Telegraph via MSN ^ | February 15, 2024 | Allister Heath

Britain’s decline over the past 25 years has been staggeringly rapid. Almost everything is getting worse, and almost nothing is getting better. Our public and private institutions are broken, presided over by an incompetent, selfish and narcissistic ruling class. Living standards, when adjusted properly for living and property costs, are declining.

Even the simplest things don’t work any longer. Queuing, scarcity and congestion are rife, our infrastructure is embarrassingly poor, and the honest and hardworking face endless bureaucratic battles to obtain what they are due. Free riding, crime, disorder, fraud, littering and generalised rule-bending are rife, and all too often tolerated by apathetic citizens and an indifferent state. Britain’s residual virtues, our individualism, independence of mind, tolerance and openness, uniquely appealing features of our national character, are fading.

Like a frog in boiling water, few saw the full scale of the decline coming until it was too late, and those who did were ridiculed by the bien-pensant. Yet even in 2024, when millions now realise that Britain is on the wrong track, there is no hope of meaningful improvement. The Tories have been abysmal, but Labour will be even worse: Keir Starmer will double down on the social-democratic and culturally nihilistic policies tested to destruction by the Conservatives.

Remember...those in power want to stay in power, and they want more of it. Its all they care about.

Insert the USA for all things limey in the article. Equally true.

This is what happens, people, when you invite Satan to dinner. Satan, the father of liars, owns liberals. And liberalism is his lie.

Under Tony Blair, Britain has been importing the 3rd world just as fast as it can.

Now some of the advocates of this policy are shocked to discover Britain is becoming the 3rd world. Who’d have guessed?

Subordinate individual freedom to “the common good.” Replace rights with obligations. Dissolve tradition in a sea of confusion. Undermine identity with the imposition of “diversity.” And that’s just for starters.

If King William V and Queen Catherine called on Americans to help to rid their land of all Orcs and evil spirits ...

This Yank would seriously consider it.

In the 20th century the main effort was to eliminate the colonies. Into the 21st century the effort appears to be elimination of the colonists. I’d say they’re doing a rather good job at it.

Deep State is indeed global.

In our case, wer’e being made to pay for MAGA and Trump.

The UK’s Deep State is making their citizenry pay for attempting to Brexit.

But the UK lacks a Trump.

And desperately needs one.

--- "Even bringing back Churchill didn't help."

Clarity, even as the quote is often called "mis-attirbuted," comes with the following:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.” Attributed often to Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813)
As to "vote themselves largesse from the public treasury," it is a simple proof of the "free money" myth of "welfare" as a government program.

Proof: US official public debt at over $34 trillion USD, and estimated at about 100+ percent of the GDP. The same holds true for Britain, which used to call itself "great" with some sort of reason, but that is now gone.

How to recover? Collapse the government with the debt -- as happened with the Soviet Union -- and start again. In biblical parlance this is the Jubilee year stratagem. "Largesse" demanded from fellow citizens becomes servitude, as perpetual bonds become slavery. The answer seems, as in most things, clear. Walk away. Just walk away.

"Australia is practically a totalitarian authoritarian hell hole. Why anyone would want to go there is beyond me."

I understand your point of view and share it to an extent. Australians are far more docile and compliant than we are. I spent six weeks there recently and clearly saw that. However, they like it, and not all states are the same. Victoria and NSW are the worst, while Queensland and the Northern territories are more independent minded. I cannot over emphasize how well the Australian society works, and works together, even though it has at least as much, if not more diversity, than our own. Whereas our culture has significant Hispanic and Black components, Australia has as much of Asian, Middle Eastern, and Aboriginal influences. From what I saw, there was nowhere near the cultural fractiousness we see here. On the down side, the food was unbelievably bland, eating out and any services were staggeringly expensive because of the high minimum wage, and it is true, not a joke, that all the wildlife there wants you dead.

the UK ruling elite sold out the country to the IslamoNazi invasion.
the ruling elite can take the money and go hide with it on some remote safe tropical island.

the rest of the British people can serve the Sharia dictatorship to come (and in the meantime, serve the Quisling political hacks that are paving the way for it’s formal declaration)

we have to face up to the harsh reality that UK (and Canada and USA and Australia and....) have traitors in government, mass media, universities...

and then figure out how to remove them from their positions of power and influence ASAP
