Former President Donald Trump must pay nearly half a billion dollars as a bond to New York State before he can appeal the ruling by Judge Arthur Engoron last week that he must pay $354 million in fines — over $450 million, with interest — for fraud.
Critics have noted that Trump is the only person ever to be sued under an obscure New York fraud statute that does not require any harm be done, and that effectively criminalizes the everyday practice of real estate valuations in negotiations with banks.
Though Attorney General Letitia James — who ran for office promising to target Trump — claimed that no one is above the law, her case against Trump marks the only such case in the history of the state. And the staggering fine is likewise unprecedented.

But if appealing to the SCOTUS requires appealing through the NY court system, Trump will be broke, with a good chance he pays the fine anyway. I have ZERO faith the court system, even the SCOTUS, is going to come to Trump’s rescue.
Trump aside, they can find anyone guilty of fraud with a bond so astronomically high that no one can possible appeal.
A trillion dollar fine for a $40 Ebay sale and you are screwed without recourse.
You treat this with all the seriousness it deserves.
The court is ridiculous, the judgement is ridiculous, and they might as well have said a trillion.
Nobody should take this seriously, and the judge needs to get his mouth beaten in with a baseball bat.
My bet is that is what will happen to Trump Tower if the court takes over management of it.
If he has to mortgage a property to get a loan, wont that be the whole reason for the civil suit against him?
I still have faith in SCOTUS, at least as it stands now. (And individuals in the NY court system will be forgotten, but the Supremes will have to contend with History.)
I would think so, but with the likely Democrat appointees running the New York federal districts, he may not get anywhere with those incompetent liars either.
He may have to get to the supreme court to get this fixed.
The bad part is, he will have to liquidate his holdings in
order to cover that bond.
This should all be put on hold until after all appeals have
been settled.

I don't think Trump or his heirs will ever pay them anything. I think the corrupt idiot judge and corrupt idiot prosecutor will have to pay, and I think New York State will have to pay dearly for frightening the sh*t out of every real estate market in their state.

No he doesn't. There are obvious federal violations. The fifth amendment is violated, the eight, the 14th.
He has a lot of grounds for a federal lawsuit against these shitty people.
