Saudi media reports that Israel has information and assessments that indicate that Hamas leaders have escaped into Egypt.

The potential fugitives include both Yahya Sinwar and his brother Mohammed as well as other senior figures in the organization.

The fugitives are thought to have escaped along with other Hamas officials through tunnels between Rafah and Sinai.

Along with the fear that top Hamas officials have escaped Israeli forces, there is a growing concern that they have taken Israeli hostages...

“So what’s Egypt going to do if this is for real?”

But is it real? Perhaps it’s a ruse to get Israel to not finish their operation, since this would change the cost/benefit ratio.

Let Israel hunt them down and pretend to be outraged.

Taking hostages into Israel is Hamas seriously stepping over the line and abusing the cultural arab custom of taking in “guests” by abusing the reputation of the host - Egypt

Egypt will probably do nothing.

I don't think so. Egypt hates Hamas because they are as much a threat to them as the are Israel.

They will likely pass through Egypt and end up in Qatar, their ally.

I guess whether Egypt does anything directly will depend on their calculations of what the radicals in their country will do.

“So the least bad option for him is to quietly green-light Mossad, and then make some angry noises when they finish whacking them and saving any hostages still alive.”

Just like when a lot of the Middle East screeched and hollered when Israel took out the Iraqi Osirak reactor back in ‘81.

Behind the scenes, there were undoubtedly glad it happened.

obvious the leaders run early on, likely months ago, and leave the lower levels to fight. just as elite/leaders of most places, they like planning the attacks, but not getting their hands dirty in the carry out.

Yesterday:

The remaining several dozen hostages are known to be in Rafah: on information received from the 200 Hamas fighters captured yesterday and from previously captured server farm data.

The Health Building in Khan Yunis is where many hostages were being held.

The exact locations of the hostages is known in Rafah, but there are 10,000 Hamas fighters with them. But, the biggest obstacle is the IDF cannot surround the city, since it is hard on the Egyptian border, and the Hamas can escape through their tunnel networks.

There are photos of Sinwar in IDF captivity on the internet.

That may be true as the Hamas managers in other countries are looking for new leaders. Of the 60 commanders at the start almost all have been neutralized.

Today:
Khan Younis is completely under IDF control.

At the start of the war there were 30,000 fighters. IDF has hit 29,000 targets of all sorts.

12,000 terrorists have been demilitarized. 5,000 more captured, a total of 17,000.

Israel denied that they had Sinwar - photos was of Hamas guy closely resembling Sinwar.

Operations against commanders in other countries has already begun.

Some commanders have turned up in Turkey where they are collecting aid & weapons to send to central Gaza. Turkey is neutral and is not doing anything to interfere.

MONEY TALKS.

Some Egyptian border guard that is offered $50,000 US Dollars in cash to look the other way does not care who they are.

Also, once they get to Egypt, why would they stay?
They could easily take the next cargo ship to Yemen or UAE or Qatar.

TBN Israel reported today/yesterday on their YouTube channel that they found the drugs given to Red Cross for specific hostages at a hospital in Khan Yunis.
However, the hostages for those life sustaining drugs were not present.

“blast a huge hole in the Egyptian fence and push out 500,000+ Gazans into Sinai”

Egypt is currently constructing another barrier a few miles south of the border with Gaza. Apparently, they are preparing to contain any surge in refugees. Whether they plan on it, or if it is just a protective contingency, we don’t know, but they are building it.

There is little infrastructure there to support large crowds, so it would likely have to be a tent-based refugee camp, which would be expensive to maintain

That’s the Levant for you. Appearance is more important than reality, so long as you have the reality covered.

So Egypt steadfastly refuses to accept the hoi polloi from Gaza, but they’re just fine letting in the criminal masterminds, apparently.

Not just fine. Problem is that they can rile up those sections of the populace in Egypt that still love the MB. Which might not be the majority, but the majority will not stand against them. A few million jihadis loudly causing trouble could topple Egypt again.
