In Chaotic Retreat, Hundreds of Ukrainian Troops Feared Captured or Missing

Hundreds of Ukrainian troops may have been captured by advancing Russian units or disappeared during Ukraine’s chaotic retreat from the eastern city of Avdiivka, according to senior Western officials and soldiers fighting for Ukraine, a devastating loss that could deal a blow to already weakening morale.

The Russian capture of Avdiivka has emerged as a significant symbolic loss for Ukrainian troops, a sign of the battlefield impact of the failure of the U.S. Congress, so far, to approve more military assistance as dwindling supplies of artillery shells make it even harder to hold the line.

“If the USA had additional shells that the Biden junta deemed available, you can be darn sure that we would have turned them over to Ukraine already under existing authorities.”

Well stated - for starters if there were anything left, they could have simply had the Europeans buy them, and then dump the Europeans dump them in Ukraine.

The money is MEANINGLESS, except to our grandchildren, as one cannot go to Walmart and simply buy 155 Shells.

“I don’t think Ukraine really wanted this war bit the western countries sure did.”

I agree that Ukraine didn’t want this war, or they wouldn’t have elected Zelensky, as he campaigned to settle things down.

The West didn’t really want it either, but they CLEARLY wanted control of the Black Sea, particularly the Russian bases there. They thought that their ‘sanctions’ would work as it worked in Serbia...but, unfortunately for them, Russia was ready to fight, while the West was having Drag Queen Parades on NATO bases.

“No Russian love lost for the nazified 3d Brigade, reputed as the most ideological fighters for the regime, possibly sent to Avdeevka to be sacrificed because of their loyalty to the deposed Army chief Zaluzhny”

I was thinking the same - the biggest threat to Zelensky is the NATO Trained and Equipped 3rd Brigade (i.e., the Ukrainian Nazis) and I suspect something didn’t seem right in their orders to be sent on a suicide mission.

“..Ukraine should be able to produce its own basic ammo...”

At the beginning of the war Ukraine had the largest army in Europe and was under the tutelage of the US and NATO. If they didn’t manufacture their on weapons and ammunition it would look poorly on the US and NATO.

Ukraine might sell territory to Poland and/or Hungary.

Of course Poland and Hungary will deduct the necessary amounts to recompense Polish and Hungarian Citizens for Murder, Ukrainian Crimes against Humanity, Forced impression of their citizens in Ukrainian Service (Slavery), and theft of property.

Simplified, all Western Ukraine will be Ceded to Poland and Hungary, with all Nazi Ukes imprisoned at restitutional labor.

As the successor state to the USSR, Russia should renounce Yalta and declare Stalin’s seizure of Eastern Poland illegal and invalid.

Chuck Schumer used Ukraine funding as a poison pill to prevent funds for closing the border. If Uke partisans want someone to blame, he’s their man. Separate clean bills for each of these purposes at least at some level of funding, probably would have passed easily.

Ukraine is irrelevant if we do not fix our border.

That is not a talking point.

That is a simple fact that every nation throughout history understood.

It is like debating the climate on Mars as a tornado bears down on you.

Only dumb people do that.

“ two battalions” was, alone, the cost of a multiple missile strike on the AZOV 3d brigade at their deployment site ….a strike repeated on them after they retreated. No Russian love lost for the nazified 3d Brigade, reputed as the most ideological fighters for the regime, possibly sent to Avdeevka to be sacrificed because of their loyalty to the deposed Army chief Zaluzhny…or to serve as “ barrier force” to execute regulars trying to retreat or surrender.

zElensky also wants to get rid of the Azov guys, because they support Zaluzhnyi, who is a political danger to the Piano Puppet and his American puppeteers.

That's also probably the reason the plane full of Azov guy POWs got rubbed out by the Ukrainians.

The question is how do we extricate ourselves from Ukraine and salvage something of national security?

The United States is no different than Pakistan.

Both countries removed their legitimate leader in a color revolution, and both are trying to imprison those rightful leaders for life.

Eff both those banana republics.

Under your logic we could not fight Germany because we were fighting Japan and we could not fight against either because we were fighting Italy.

We could not fight World War II because we were in the Great Depression.

We cannot walk and chew gum.

If you want to hold the border up as a political tool to end aid to Ukraine, say so but spare us the ill logic; I’ve already stipulated:

“It is imperative that we close the border with Mexico, it may or may not be reasonable for us to be concerned about Ukraine’s border. One does not relate to the other, apart from the budget, except as a political talking point.”
