Time is not on Israel's side.

Rafah is the last place Hamas has to withdraw to so most of the Hamas are hiding there in tunnels.

Rafah is the location of the Hamas last stand. If the IDF can clean out Rafah they will have taken out most of the Hamas infrastructure and fighters

Now is the time to do it because Hamas is demoralized, depleted and disorganized. They are losing their terror grip that they use to control the Gaza population and the people are turning against Hamas. .

It's command structure is mostly dead and the remaining leadership is not communicating with the troops on the ground and with each other.

The IDF needs to end this ASAP.

The IDF needs to try to isolate groups holding hostages so the groups can easily be identified if something worse happens to the hostages, such as getting murdered. Groups might simply tie up the hostages and move away from them since simply being identified by the IDF as a fighter will mean less confinement time than being caught as a hostage holder, brutalizer or killer.

Asking Palestinians who don’t wish to fight or get killed to move into safe areas will facilitate the IDF’s job.
