To: Melinda in TN

An antiquated term for someone who rides the subway. There used to be straps hanging down inside the subway cars to hold onto for those who had to stand. Now it’s just metal bars and poles to hang onto.

Not something we have here unless there is a subway in Nashville.

My little town (Athens) doesn’t even have a shopping mall. The local Walmart has an open-air building to tie up horses and horses and buggies if they haven’t started using it for something else. I see several tied to light poles in the parking lot.

I got behind a man on a horse in a fast-food drive-thru once and saw a cop pull over a Mennonite buggy for speeding through town. 🙄

I live in a time warp so sometimes I have to ask really dumb questions!
