The whole Catholic hierarchy is overwhelmingly filled with gay men that insist on butt screwing parishioners, including little boys.

“The filing comes in the wake of lawsuits accusing clergy of sexual abuse”

I find it sick to think that reparations of throwing money at the victims of immorality and the lasting pain they will have for the rest of their lives is a poor substitute to be able to walk away after the failed responsibility and violation the priests have accosted their trusting flock with. They should be prosecuted and imprisoned for this. And put in with the general population as many inmates don’t like pedophiles.

You ask that as if you think Bergoglio is displeased by the Diocese going broke.

Besides the pedophilia, after the seminary and all of the training these alleged clergymen go through to become ordained, if they can still commit these atrocities, what do they really believe in—or not?

Who says its broke?

The Catholic church has plenty of money coming in from government contracts.

Looks like its decided than when it’s got Caesar rendering unto them with taxpayer money, who needs churches?

I stopped paying attention to these stories after doing the math with the ages of some victims. It turns out that many of these “child” sex abuse cases involved men in their 20s — which tells me the “abuse” was actually a consensual homosexual relationship.

I have no doubt that some of these sexual abuse claims are real and valid. I also have no doubt that probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the “claims” are fraudulent.

There should not be even one such valid claim but over centuries we now know that the Catholic Church and probably others have had misplaced trust in priests and church staff with the practice of celibacy being in the forefront of the problem.

Homosexuals just cannot be trusted anywhere near kids and it is simple as that. Where the Catholic Church went wrong is/was that in many of these cases they KNEW ABOUT IT but didn’t ACT to stop it.

Even that complaint stopped resonating with me years ago when some of the earliest cases began to make the news. The infamous New Orleans case from the 1980s was a real turning point. One of the most remarkable aspects of that story was that the bishop of New Orleans at the time actually took the initiative to refer the case of one of the most notorious predator priests over to the prosecutor's office in 1980. The prosecutor at the time -- Harry Connick Sr. (yes, the father of THAT Harry Connick Jr.) -- refused to pursue any charges against the culprit.

Good point! VDH expands on your same point below asterisks.

From your post: ..... The prosecutor at the time — Harry Connick Sr. (yes, the father of THAT Harry Connick Jr.) — refused to pursue any charges against the culprit.

************************************************************

Fourth, all these people are an incestuous lot. Holder does not prosecute Clapper or Brennan, but himself was not prosecuted for resisting a congressional subpoena. Comey lets Hillary off, but he himself is let off after leaking a likely classified document. A Biden-administration-appointed special prosecutor exempts Biden, but another Biden prosecutor indicts Trump. After receiving their exemptions, the pots Brennan, Clapper, Comey, and McCabe all turn up on cable news blasting the kettle Trump.

What is the common explanation for all this madness?

Our criminal justice system no longer treats the accused equally under the law. If the defendant is deemed a conservative, like a Michael Flynn, Peter Navarro, or Donald Trump, then the full force of prosecution falls upon them.

But if a Biden, Brennan, Clapper, Clinton, Holder, or Willis, then the state contorts itself to find excuses, exemptions, and mitigating circumstances not to pursue justice—and so often to the point of absurdity and the erosion of Americans’ confidence in their laws. In these high-profile cases in this polarized era, a cynical public now expects any accused prominent leftist to remain unindicted, while any non-leftwing target will be indicted, convicted, and jailed—for the same alleged offenses.

Please explain how so many dioceses are having sexual abuse problems, if the hierarchy of the Catholic church is in charge.

The problem so so endemic, it’s just a matter of time before another goes completely bankrupt.

The entire college of Cardinals voted the current pope in. Think of that, and think of how culpable these people are, and how they got there, as with the current pope.

The parishioners aren’t the problem. It’s the hierarchy that has totally insulated itself from criticism and took away the very means to address issues within the Church from the parishioners, given in the Bible.

The Catholic church is setup to sustain what is now there. That is how companies, and churches, fall apart.

Let's see how the Catholic church properly handles the church hierarchy, according to what the bible at Catholic.org, says:

1 Timothy 3

1 Here is a saying that you can rely on: to want to be a presiding elder is to desire a noble task.

2 That is why the presiding elder must have an impeccable character. Husband of one wife, he must be temperate, discreet and courteous, hospitable and a good teacher;

3 not a heavy drinker, nor hot-tempered, but gentle and peaceable, not avaricious,

4 a man who manages his own household well and brings his children up to obey him and be well-behaved:

5 how can any man who does not understand how to manage his own household take care of the Church of God?

6 He should not be a new convert, in case pride should turn his head and he incur the same condemnation as the devil.

7 It is also necessary that he be held in good repute by outsiders, so that he never falls into disrepute and into the devil's trap.

8 Similarly, deacons must be respectable, not double-tongued, moderate in the amount of wine they drink and with no squalid greed for money.

9 They must hold to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.

10 They are first to be examined, and admitted to serve as deacons only if there is nothing against them.

11 Similarly, women must be respectable, not gossips, but sober and wholly reliable.

12 Deacons must be husbands of one wife and must be people who manage their children and households well.

13 Those of them who carry out their duties well as deacons will earn a high standing for themselves and an authoritative voice in matters concerning faith in Christ Jesus.

https://www.catholic.org/bible/book.php?id=61&bible_chapter=3

Yeah, that whole church thing at the Catholic church is rock solid, and they are all the husbands of one wife, with children and households well managed, etc.—NOT.
