Rockford is a hole. The only difference between this murder and hundreds of others is that you know about it.

Rockford is a hole.

It’s getting harder and harder to argue that statement. I’ve lived here all my life and it’s never been as bad as it is now. Just last Sunday an 18 year old worker at one of the local Walmarts was stabbed inside the store and died. They caught that guy too, but what the hell is going on?
I have a CCL and do carry, and will certainly continue to do so.
Where my wife and I live now is relatively safe, safer than where we used to live.

Two months ago there was a gun battle across the street from my brother’s house. No one was hurt, but his big picture window has a bullet hole in it, along with one in the opposite wall in his living room. He was laying on his couch when it happened, and lucky for him he wasn’t walking through the room. That round was right at head level.

Bad times….

Rockford had 20 murders in 2023, not hundreds. That's for a population of about 140,000, so it isn't great, but there are worse holes. West State Street is pretty nasty (and easily avoided), but Perryville Road is fine, the northwest section and south of Harrison is also OK.

It wouldn't be so horrible if it weren't for the vampire known as Chicago.
