MOSCOW/WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Russian investigators said on Thursday they had found proof that gunmen who killed more than 140 people at a concert last week were linked to "Ukrainian nationalists", an assertion immediately dismissed by the United States as baseless propaganda.
Russia has said from the outset that it believes Ukraine was linked to the attack, even though Kyiv has denied it and the militant group Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
In a statement, Russia's Investigative Committee said for the first time that it had uncovered proof of a Ukrainian connection. While it described the nature of the alleged evidence, it did not publish it.
"As a result of working with detained terrorists, studying the technical devices seized from them, and analysing information about financial transactions, evidence was obtained of their connection with Ukrainian nationalists," it said.
It said there was "confirmed data" that the attackers had received significant amounts of cash and cryptocurrency from Ukraine. Another suspect involved in "the terrorists' financing scheme" had been detained, the committee said.
White House national security spokesperson John Kirby described the Russian allegations as "nonsense and propaganda" and said Islamic State was solely responsible for the attack.

It may indeed be baseless, I don’t trust the Russians to tell the truth. But how do we have the authority to make the claim on behalf of a foreign country? If some secret radical group of rebels, here or there or anywhere, plans something horrible - how does any government have any control over it or the credibility to deny anything about its origin?

Reduce military readiness, & cohesion and instead turn it into a social justice experiment, while hallowing out , by forcing out those few who are warriors & replacing them with transgenders & other useless military personnel who are more likely to turn tail & run when the shooting starts. They may actually be justified, as they are using up the stockpiled military resources on a fools errand that never had a chance to succeed. Especially as it was carried out. What is preventing from not being sure, because I do have a valid point? I'm willing to listen to you justify being not sure. Is it the court systems? I sure do not see people taking up arms, though I think that is exactly what they want us to do. we don't even have the cohesiveness of the military. we always were a deterrent from outside invaders. But when the invasion is coming from within, & they control the levers of power, we suddenly become rather impotent. We can't even communicate with out them being able to listen in

The credibility of our government has nothing to do with ISIS claiming credit for the attack and having video sent to them from the attack to prove it.
But in this case ISIS did the job. And the Russian police stood around outside and did nothing for over an hour.
