Soldiers in Ukraine are veering increasingly older as the country grapples with a shortage of soldiers after roughly 20 months of brutal fighting against Russia.
As countless casualties have hampered Ukraine's forces, the average age of a soldier in the country is currently around 43 years old, Time magazine reported last week.
That average is up by nearly 10 years from March 2022, one month after the war began, when the average age of a Ukrainian soldier was between 30 and 35 years old, according to FT.
"They're grown men now, and they aren't that healthy to begin with," a close aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Time. "This is Ukraine. Not Scandinavia."
Ukraine does not release the number of deaths or injuries among its troops, but Western officials said in August the war's total casualty (killed and injured) toll was nearing 500,000.
As the war drags on, Zelenskyy is concerned international support for the country is waning, he told Time. Less than half of Americans still support Congress giving more weapons to Ukraine, according to an October Reuters poll, where 35% disagreed and the remaining respondents were unsure.
A longtime member of Zelenskyy's team told Time the president feels betrayed by Ukraine's Western allies who he sees as having only given the country what it needs to survive the war but not beat Russia for good.

They don’t look over 40. Maybe 16 or 17.
the neoCONs must be really proud of themselves
I don't know why that is. This country is paying salaries and retirement benefits to Ukrainians during their so-called "State of Emergency." It's just another reason that Zelensky won't site down at the peace table.
"Best money we ever spent!"

That picture makes me very sad.
It’s just like WWI.
But, but we have been told that the Ukraine is winning over the dirty, RuZZZZZZian orcs!
The slave proxy Ukraine is done, stick a fork in it.
“Ukraine does not release the number of deaths or injuries among its troops, but Western officials said in August the war’s total casualty (killed and injured) toll was nearing 500,000.”
The number of deaths is closing in on 600,000 from what I understand.
I was friends with two Ukranian officers when I was in the Balkans a few years back.
We swapped gear, and I’d listen to them talk about how much they hated the Russians from time to time.
Even before the War, they said the Ukrainian Army was getting one meal a day generally speaking, and the best duty you could ask for was to get stationed in the Balkans, because you’d get three squares a day courtesy of NATO.
I would be surprised if those guys are still alive.
Killing a generation of white Christians. It’s their dream come true.
Please tell me those are Boy Scouts with photoshopped Uke Army uniforms.
all so they can protect their money laundering and other nefarious schemes in ukraine. It’s as evil as it gets.
The pic shows another Ukie Generation about to lost.
Very sad.
Two corrupt countries fighting each other and we have open borders at home? Sorry - not our circus, not our monkeys...
There was an article posted yesterday about them considering lowering the eligible draft age to 25. If you are getting people killed, it is better for a country to lose those over 40 than under 40.
Make the lowest eligible draft age, 60. Offer to double the SS benefit and make all the senators and representatives eligible. Looks good to me. I would like to see Mitch and Lindsey have to serve.
I don’t know.
Sad indeed—wait till they are pictures of Americans kids going to the troop ships. Doing a D-Day on Crimea facing Russian Machine guns. These will be Blacks, Latinos, boys and girls to be killed to Free Ukraine for Zelensky.
Kidding aside, we thank our American veterans for their service.
