How much did they lose during the counteroffensive last year?

Ukraine lost enough men that they can no longer properly man their ground forces. It would appear that Ukraine lost more men in their still-born counteroffensive, than both sides combined lost at Gettysburg. There were 7,058 battlefield deaths at Gettysburg, both sides combined.

It'll be interesting to compare that to Gettysburg.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1009988/battle-gettysburg-casualties-july-1863/

For Gettysburg, the Union figures were 23,049 total casualties; 3,155 killed; 14,529 wounded, 5,365 missing or captured.

The Confederates had 28,063 total casualties; 3,903 killed; 18,735 wounded; 5,425 missing or captured.

51,112 total casualties for both sides combined.

The Confederate side lost the battle of Gettysburg. The majority of battlefield losses in the Civil War were on the Union side. Casualty figures for the Civil War are estimates or scientific wild ass guesses. More deaths resulted from disease than battle.

UNION CIVIL WAR CASUALTIES
Combat Deaths: Over 110,000
Other Deaths*: Over 250,000

CONFEDERATE CIVIL WAR CASUALTIES
Combat Deaths: Over 95,000
Other Deaths*: Over 165,000

(*Other Deaths include, among others: disease (by far the most common cause of death), accidents, drowning, heat stroke, suicide, murder, execution.)

Hard to find the exact data on the losses by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It’s a state secret. I understand, it’s bad for morale if the word got out.
