Our local 99 Cent store became the brunt of a joke on our local FB group about how the name is a misnomer since hardly anything costs 99 cents there these days.
In my town we have these generic Indian-owned stores with signs reading, “99 cents and up”.
They seem to just sell cheap junk from India and Red China, certainly not the “produce” mentioned in the article...
