Senate strikes down Biden administration's climate regulations targeting car emissions (only 6.78 years left)

The Senate on Wednesday afternoon voted in favor of passing a bill reversing the Biden administration's actions mandating states to track and set reduction goals for greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles on highways.

The chamber approved the resolution in a 53-47 vote in which Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz.; Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; Jon Tester, D-Mont.; and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., joined every Republican voting in the affirmative. The bill was introduced in February by Sens. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D.; Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.; and Manchin.

"Few things are more frustrating in government than un-elected bureaucrats asserting authority they don’t have and foisting federal mediocrity on the excellence of states," Cramer said in floor remarks earlier Wednesday.

'Illegal rule'

"The Senate will take up my bipartisan resolution that overturns the Biden administration’s obviously illegal rule that requires state departments of transportation to measure CO2 tailpipe emissions then set declining targets for vehicles traveling on the highway systems of their respective states," he continued.

The resolution is a response to regulations the Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) finalized in November, which the agency said supports President Biden’s "whole-of-government approach" of reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said at the time that the regulations provide states with the flexibility to set their own climate targets.

This sounds like one of those things the Dems do to appear somehow rational and reasonable in an election year. Then it’s back to being proudly unhinged once the vote is secured.

Biden won’t sign it. It’s like all that stuff MTG introduces before she does a TV appearance.

Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; Jon Tester, D-Mont

Those good moderates (in an election year).

I remember having to educate liberals about headlines stating: “Congress Passes Major Legislation”

What the Drive-By Media calls ‘Congress’ is just the House of Representatives.

Ever since Pelousy was the Speaker the first time, all of the regular order, panels, sub-committees, committees was flushed away. Pelousy and her cronies met in her office. Any large or medium legislation was forced upon the members. Either vote yes, or do not receive any funding for your next election.

Between the democRATS and the RINOs, we still have a long way to go.

Fetterman has really surprised me, I thought he was just going to be a RAT toady, he has actually done a few sane things.

Energy production is the #1 target of strategic bombing campaigns.

Followed by manufacturing and transportation.

The Ds are waging war against America.

The EPA can’t make laws, rules or regulations but they continue to do so like many of these 3 letter institutions. Only congress can make laws and these supposed institutions are only allowed to enforce them.
