There are a lot of caveats with any government compiled statistics, and that goes triply for homicide stats for major urban areas that are run by the same political party as the weak and poorly performing occupant of the White House. The only crime stats that are consistent are the Uniform Crime Statistics compiled by the Justice Department - a consistent time series going back into the 1930’s. But that takes time to update, and I think you only have numbers through 2022 right now. So, cast a jaundiced eye on any crime statistics news coming out of Democratically controlled urban areas. It may be real, or it may be a response to a frantic call from the White House asking for some home cookin’.
