New York Judge Threatens Trump With Jail Time During First Day In Court - 'Election Interference' by: Sterling Mosley 04.15.2024
On Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump traveled to New York City for the first day of his criminal trial in the hush money case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D). The defense and prosecution will begin to decide who will serve on the 12-man jury that will decide the 45th president's fate. During the hearing, Trump, who has repeatedly railed against the case as political persecution, was threatened by presiding Justice Juan Merchan that he would face jail time if he were to interrupt court proceedings or if he failed to appear while the trial was taking place.
During the hearing, Judge Merchan explained to the former president that he would be arrested if he did not appear at every hearing in the criminal trial in the coming months, a move that many conservative commentators claim is election interference. "If you do not show up, there will be an arrest," Merchan said. The trial is expected to take place over the next couple of months, perhaps even lasting until June.

Trump should define and not appear the last 3 days of the trial. Fund raising would go exponential if he was thrown in jail.
Marching in large groups in front of the court house with signs stating THANK YOU. Trump received millions of dollars each day of this trial!

Most people who would be inclined to join would be at work being productive. Some would be available, but not the numbers you would see on a weekend or in a more hospitable state.
Would they threaten any other defendant with this in court? If not. Grounds for appeal. Iāve not heard of anybody getting arrested for not showing up for court.

No. Thereās no suit in front of them on this particular case. However, the immunity case is in front of them and if they grant immunity, the trial is over or at least postponed for a long while.
Re: 48 - could not disagree more. Tens of thousands of people went to rally on 01/06 and were not prosecuted.
