Why Kabuki instead of any other theater?

For quite a while, I’ve noticed FReepers using the term “Kabuki Theater” and I haven’t been able to understand why the use of Kabuki as opposed to any kind of theater.

My curious mind wants to know more.
That’s what I’m getting at.
