WAR CLOUDS: Israeli War Cabinet preparing to order 'forceful' retaliatory strike on Iran – expected to make final decision Tuesday

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his War Cabinet are leaning towards ordering the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to launch a retaliatory strike against Iran in the coming days, according to Israel’s Channel 12 news.

A final decision has apparently not been made.

The War Cabinet is expected to convene again tomorrow.

But as war clouds form over the region, the stakes could not be higher.

This is a big deal.

I think that the War Cabinet is signaling that they will probably order a strike on Iran, but leaking word of their deliberations so the Israeli public can begin to prepare, and so that foreign governments — including the White House — are aware of the cabinet's thinking process.

After all, according to the New York Times, President Biden has insisted to Prime Minister Netanyahu and to the Israeli people that Israel should not retaliate.

Therefore, the War Cabinet is trying to walk carefully, knowing that a decision to retaliate would be going against Biden's expressed wishes.

They don’t need to go nuke. They do need to take out Iran’s capacity for it— however they may do that- including collapsing the underground undermountain facilities.

[Israel attacked building next to the Iranian Embassy. Not the embassy.]

Some are calling it an “embassy annex building” but you guys are correct, it certainly wasn’t the main embassy building that was destroyed.

And there’s no obvious transgenders nor drag queens.

Biden, Mayor Pete and Barack Obama must be very sad indeed.

The launch bases should have been destroyed while all those drones and missiles were still in the air.

Obama’s puppet essentially condoned Iran’s attack against Israel. Israel has been constantly attacked by Iran through it’s proxies for 3 years. Netanyahu is not stupid. It will never end. Now it’s known that Iran can send 30 missiles into Israel. Iran could be provided with nuclear warheads by N. Korea today. To make matters worse, Palestinians in the US and terrorists who’ve crossed the border the last 3 years could attack us tomorrow. The situation is dire. We’ve been warned by our FBI. They are wishing death on us in our OWN country. Who is controlling who?
Trump is right. The US has turned to shit. After what has happened, I wouldn’t blame Israel for attacking Iran. They have no choice.

Israel attacked building next to the Iranian Embassy. Not the embassy. This is a lie repeated constantly.

Yes, they did not hit the embassy, they hit the consulate annex building, another diplomatic facility next door. Under any circumstance, that is a violation of international law. This grotesquely incomplete "correction" is repeated constantly.

9593RD MEETING (PM)

Briefing Security Council on Reported Israeli Attacks against Iran’s Diplomatic Premises in Syria, Top UN Official Urges Efforts to Prevent Further Escalation

In a meeting urgently convened today following reports of Israeli attacks on Iran’s diplomatic premises in Syria, a senior United Nations official told the Security Council that the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel must be respected and further escalation must be avoided.

“The rules-based international order is essential for international peace and security, which this Council is mandated to maintain,” said Khaled Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia and the Pacific in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, in his briefing to the 15-member body.

Iran’s delegate reported that seven missile airstrikes from the occupied Golan Heights intentionally targeted her country’s diplomatic premises in Damascus, including the consular section building and the Ambassador’s residence. Tragically, these heinous attacks resulted in the martyrdom of seven Iranian personnel. Alongside the complete destruction of the consular building, the Embassy’s administrative parts also suffered significant damage due to the explosions, she added.

We have to realize, Israel will decide course of action based partly on intel about Iran that none of us have....

Israel is completely dependent on Uncle Sugar for its continued existence. We have to realize that Israel will decide course of action based on what Uncle Sugar demands. Iran is not Gaza. Uncle Sugar will lean on Israel at least until the election season is over.

Never lose sight of the fact (yes, EVERYONE knows it’s a fact, and the opinion of anyone who doesn’t know it’s a fact is worthless) that if Hamas put down their weapons today there would be peace today. But if Israel put down their weapons today they would cease to exist tomorrow.

That fact explains everything you need to know about the situation.

take a step backward in time.

The Iran hostage crisis was a diplomatic standoff between Iran and the United States. Fifty-three American diplomats and citizens were held hostage after a group of militarized Iranian college students belonging to the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line, who supported the Iranian Revolution, including Hossein Dehghan (future Iranian Minister of Defense), Mohammad Ali Jafari (future Revolutionary Guards Commander-In-Chief) and Mohammad Bagheri (future Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Army),[3][4] took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran[5][6] and took them as hostages. The hostages were held for 444 days, from November 4, 1979 to their release on January 20, 1981. The crisis is considered a pivotal episode in the history of Iran–United States relations.[7]

If Israel strikes Iran, it will have to be so decisive a victory that the Iranians will back off any future plans. Anything less will only invite Iran taking action like closing the Straits of Hormuz. The only other plausible action would be for Israel to back down.

Well put, J.S.M. At least we still have a few FReepers with a sense of reality about this, around here.

I would clarify that by far most of Hezbollah and the threat of their rockets (and probably some fairly capable missiles) is in Lebanon. Not to minimize their activities in the West Bank at all...

The building the Israelis hit is often referred to as a “consulate”, and indeed some consular activities may have been conducted there as a cover, but the mere fact the Israelis didn’t kill a big batch of civilians there, while getting a nice chunk of Quds’ leadership, at least one fairly important Hezzy, and some assistants, pretty much tells the story. Yes, consulates and embassies are sometime used by most everybody for, shall we say, “non-diplomatic” purposes, but this was outright terrorist activities by terrorist leaders from terrorist groups and countries going on. No such building has immunity. Responsibility to limit civilian casualties would still apply, and the Israelis did. Many a commenter needs to compare, in all respects, to the wanton Iranian attack on the Israeli embassy in Argentina.

I’d recommend only 10 missiles in any retalitory strike... all nuclear but only 10 and state that’s 290 less than Iran’s.

No diplomats. Generals and military Syrian side Iranian directors of attacks. Perfectly legitimate target, as are any Iranian bases in Syria. You don’t get this— but then explains the bias and the generic view of ... “palestine” which was a name assigned by the Roman Empire when its long war with Judea was conducted. Which is why no ME region nations want anything to do with... palestinians- because it is an Iranian narrative vs. Sunni majority. Bye.
