O.K., Johnson has been given ample opportunities to prove he can lead. He has failed. Worse, he doesn’t seem to have tried. Maybe he’s been compromised. Maybe he just doesn’t have the fight in him.
One thing is clear: if he keeps running to the rear, it is going to be hard to rally the base in November to pick up more seats so that the House Republican/Demoncrat headcount won’t be so close.
