The Casinos and all the hotels in Vegas, especially if they allow gambling plus a bar and live TV on the train.

I would like to go skiing for a day at Lee Canyon.

[We were always there in the summer for hot weather testing.]

“Con Rail”

That’ll be that new Nicholas Cage movie coming out involving this train line.

It’s correct name is “Rancho Cucamonga”.

It’s correct name is “Rancho Cucamonga”.

Frank Zappa's old stomping grounds.

Except you have to travel to the spot where the train is boarded. Boondoggle hardly describes these projects building High Speed Rail.

A four hour drive and having all your luggage, travel companions, and transportation for the region. Paying about $100 in gasoline.

OR...
Drive the car to the train station 2 hours early. Unload your luggage in to the train station. Sit on the train for 2 hours. Go to the car rental place. Load all your luggage in to the rental car.

I know which option EVERYONE will take. Those will be empty train cars. BUT.... Who cares. I’m sure politicians got a great deal on the real estate will now be worth fortunes.

Haven’t heard about that. There seems to be talk about a high speed link between Houston and Dallas though.

“[It’s amazing that a 1800s tech is still so relevant these days.]”

totally relevant: modern railroads are still the most cost-effective method for transporting on land bulk cargo that can’t be shipped via pipeline ...

same is true of ocean-going steel-hulkled cargo ships powered by diesel engines, yet another 1800’s tech that is essential to modern life ...

oh yeah, and then there’s Tesla’s invention and production of a fully integrated AC generation, transmission and electric motor network in the 1800’s ...

There is a series streaming called “The Detectives” It is very good, and one “season” is written around High speed rail and the grift surrounding it. I highly recommend watching this series.

Due to having a number of level crossings in built up areas, there have been numerous incidents of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists being on the tracks when a train passed, several of them resulting in fatalities. 100 deaths have been connected to Brightline operations since 2017.

You really think they are not going to import the security hassles at the airport totrains? Of course, they will and then the train will be hell too.

Which will come first—the first actual ride on the high-speed rail system or the 2045 total eclipse?

Here’s something many don’t know about high speed rail. The trains have to slow down or do a quick stop way before they need to way before the station. That’s to clean the dead birds from all over the front of the train.
