If the info at the above is accurate, Brightline is losing big bucks and riders.

We may have been able to get here (this point in time with our trains) sooner if many years ago we had totally privitized AMTRAK.

>Unlike other projects, Brightline has proved they can create profitable rail lines.

Then they don’t require taxpayer, I mean ‘govt’, “funding”, right?

Good, now they’ve got an actual hole to pour the money into.

It is 180 miles from my home to Portland Oregon. It takes me 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic. Now if I was to drive to say Tacoma, that takes 45 minutes, go to a high speed rail parking lot and park. Wait for the train. There goes 1.5 hours for the theoretical High speed rail. At that point I am 1.5 hours from Portland. Drive or get on a train? I keep driving..... It will be the same with the LA to LV trip.

The people in charge are in on the grift PLUS they are psychologically messed up.

The major difference is all the cities you mentioned are not Las Vegas which tourists by the millions go to each and from LA you have cross a desert to get there, throw in an entertainment car with alcohol, gambling and live TV, if the price is reasonable compared to flying and the schedule is decent it could easily work

Could it have passengers, will their fares get close to paying for the rail, and maybe bring a profit? NOT A CHANCE. It is a cool concept though. Like a Tesla in every garage without building Nuclear power plants, maybe about 50 of them all across the country. Vegas is a GREAT place for a couple of plants, far away from the Earthquake/tsuanami zone. Otherwise, where will the power come to run the train? Take it from people charging their cars, cooling the house, keeping the pool warm and eternally running? Not going to happen. It will be an eternal hole in the wallet of taxpayers, who MOST will not use the train.
