The man fatally shot by Seattle police officers at a Tukwila hotel last week was a retired U.S. Navy physician who is tied to an address in Hansville, Kitsap County, records show.
Bruce Coval Meneley,67, was identified Tuesday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which determined he died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.
Task force members were conducting a sting operation at the Double Tree Hotel in Tukwila to arrest a suspect who thought he was going to meet two young girls, ages 7 and 11, in a hotel room, according to an item posted Friday to SPD’s online blotter. p

Yikes! In that To Catch A Predator series they got at least one lawyer...one military member...one teacher...one clergyman...and one physician.

They got a district attorney ... who then committed suicide. That, unfortunately, ended the program.
Obviously picked up some very bad habits in foreign ports.
I hope his parents have already passed. They must have been so proud of their son.

I no longer believe this excuse
One of the good parts about being killed by the police is that his wife gets to keep her survivor benefit income because when a defendant dies, no charges can be filed against him. Had they been filed and he died before the exhaustion of all appeals, he would have had the charges dismissed.
That’s what happened with the top-level Enron executives. He had been convicted, but he died before all of his appeals had been exhausted. Because of that, all the charges against him had to be dismissed and his wife got all his assets and no one else to go after them.
Why was it ruled a homicide?
Homicide is a manner of death, when one person causes the death of another.
Not all homicide is murder, as some deaths caused by another person are manslaughter, and some are lawful; such as when justified by an affirmative defense, like insanity or self-defense.
