Maher: ‘A Lot of the Problem’ on Campuses Is Due to Them Teaching Dumb Stuff Like Taylor Swift Courses
Breitbart ^ | 04/27/2024 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 04/27/2024 6:53:17 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that many of the campus demonstrators don’t know what they’re talking about and “a lot of the problem” is schools teaching ridiculous classes like Harvard’s course on Taylor Swift.

Former CNN host Don Lemon stated that “some of” the protesters are bigots, and “a lot of them don’t have the information needed because they’re getting their news from TikTok…and they don’t have the history of what’s going on.”

Maher is fine. I enjoy his podcast occasional as he has interesting people on.
Club Random I believe it is called.

My son graduated from an American High School. He can barely do geometry.

My son did not learn to write cursive, no longer relevant according to the experts in education.

He never read Beowulf, the first epic poem in English.

He never read Plato's Republic, even though we live in a republic and probably the reason why most kids today think we live in a democracy.

He never read Shakespeare, even though he basically lays our all the forms of conflict in any story.

Of course he never read Mark Twain since even though having an impact on the language and literary style, he's far to controversial today.

They didn't teach him who Martin Luther was.

But he did read poems written by a black woman, Maya Angelou. He was clobbered by his teacher for questioning Climate Change and taught all about that in science (we follow the science in America). He learned about the merits of globalization, can tell you about equity, inclusion and tolerance, and what every letter in LGBTQIA means. Science taught him that abortion is just scraping out some cells that have no feelings or soul, that evolution is a fact and not a theory. In US government he learned how the US Constitution is a “living document” to be changed at will as times and values change. He learned that woman have it harder then him and can do everything he can do. Being a white boy he was also taught about his privilege, in classes where he had other kids that had no business being there because they couldn't perform at that level. Of course my son was vaxed, because that was essential in high quality schools like we have where we "follow the science"...

***American public schools teach a lot Mr. Maher!***

You see, my son may not know who the original Martin Luther was (that guy wasn't that important), but he can tell you who Martin Luther King and Malcom X are.

Most kids with an American public education have a total libtard indoctrination and have been taught to be little social justice warriors.

For leftist institutions that just redefine that which they don't like into something they can accept, it seems that "Journalism" is just redefined "Propaganda".

Remember when universities were proud of their "Schools of Journalism"? Now they are an absurdity.

Talyor Swift classes are way better than the other hatefilled leftist trash classes that are taught.

the real problem is frightened, impotent, dithering, vacillating, weak-kneed university presidents who allow their campuses to be shutdown by paid agitators at the drop of a hat, instead of taking simple solutions like having the police eject and arrest all trespassers and expelling student agitators and firing employees engaged in insurrection ...

OTOH, it would be fantastic if these Marxist factories actually did have to shut down for good because the insurrections on their property became permanent or at least lasted enough months to corrode these “institutions” into little piles of irrelevant cruft ...

so, quite frankly, i’m rooting for the insurrectionists!

Mom was a public school teacher.

Mom became part of the schools administration.

It was a huge issue and frankly one of the reasons why we eventually seperated.

He says what he knows will get him ratings...he knows he will get more viewers if he plays both sides...hd is not completely after the truth. I don’t waste my time cogitating on his statements.

Up until a few months ago, I’d never heard of her.

Now there’s a Taylor Swift channel on my satellite radio network.

I agree. What’s up with Bill? He’s correct. Getting a degree in Tater Swuft doesn’t sound like a very good use of a person’s time. Where the hell are the classes held? Panama City beaches?

It’s the “Sistah Souljah” thing, like the Clintons do, occasionally sound like a social conservative to fool people.

“ Now there’s a Taylor Swift channel on my satellite radio network.”

Ya what does she have to say for all of that? She’s a coddled suburban high school dropout with no social life she has nothing to write about. Zero life experience.

She’s a representative. Of what? Of whom? What viewpoint is she getting $billions to put out?

Having college courses like Swift ones is precisely why graduates can't get jobs and pay back their student loans.

They're just plain unemployable.

Her music is not that good for this amount of adulation. Elton John was on pbs getting som congressional award

His politics aside - he forgets people want the music not his uneducated foreigners view of American politics- fifty years later everyone in the live audience and anyone watching can sing along eithe fond memories of life at the time wall my kids came into the tv room to watch mesmerized by their fanboy playing don’t let the sumo down

Elton in interview gave great tribute to his influences- Americans- Ella, little Richard, Elvis

The greats- gospel, jazz, blues, rock and roll

Who are swifts influences? What is her musical community.

Is there really a college course about her? I find it might be an urban legend, or Maher exaggerating to make a point.

Em… have you seen what college kids are doing, saying, buying?

Of corners there’s a Taylor swift course

All along there was an invisible string
The University of Texas at Austin has “The Taylor Swift Songbook.” Stanford University has “All Too Well (10 Week Version).” Arizona State University offered a “Psychology of Taylor Swift” class, and New York University’s Swift class made headlines in 2021.Jan 2, 2024
