That is because a bunch of Cali transplants have turned it into a burb of SA over the last 25 years that is more like Cali. Kerrville is nice and not outrageous-lots of vets live there.

I looked into moving to Boerne. Alas, too expensive. Boerne is beautiful. Granbury Texas is like Boerne but less expensive and it has a nice large lake.
