With six and a half months before Election Day, the latest Meredith College poll shows Democrat Josh Stein gaining a bit more ground over Republican Mark Robinson in North Carolina’s gubernatorial contest. Stein now leads Robinson 45%-36% — up from a five percentage point advantage in February.

a chart describing polling in the governor's race Source: Meredith Poll Poll director and political scientist David McLennan says while Robinson gets a lot of support from conservatives in the state, Stein is growing his base among unaffiliated voters and those who say they are politically moderate.

“Robinson continues to get negative media coverage of his statements and actions from the past. This enhanced exposure of Robinson’s extreme statements, as well as concerns that some of Robinson’s policy positions, seems to be shifting the unaffiliated voters into Stein’s camp,” noted McLennan.

Most recently Robinson has drawn attention for failing to file federal income taxes for five years between 1998-2002. Robinson’s communications director Mike Lonergan told ABC News that Robinson’s made no secret of his past financial challenges and that it’s “old news recycled by Democrats.”

The polls I’ve seen that I trust show Mark Robinson doing better.

I think they’re manufacturing a narrative. Rs + Dem blacks will vote Robinson. I expect 40% of blacks to vote for him.

The Uniparty can cheat black conservatives without any repercussions whatsoever. No one is going to pursue auditing Dominion or insist on hand counts. The lamestream media will put it down to "racism" on the part of republican voters.

This is EXACTLY what happened in KY in their recent governor's race. Republicans SWEEPED the board EXCEPT for the governor.

Sorry, but you're wong. Black Democrats do not vote for conservative Blacks. They call them "house n----s." Look at the way Black Democrats treat Justice Thomas. I work at a university and every February is "Black History Month" and there are always displays throughout campus with prominent black leaders from history. Not one single Black republican has been featured in these displays. Not ever. The only thing a Black Democrat hates more than "white priviledge" is an successful, outspoken Conservative Black politician.

Black Democrats will vote for a White Democrat every time over a Black conservative.

Fake poll.

They do this to make the election steal more credible.

Any reliable poll would show Robinson ahead.

The only way democrats win is:

1) do a fake poll favoring their candidate

2) use the same old tactics to steal the election

You’re not paying attention to what’s happening to the opinions of black democrats.

Sigh….

See post 11.

This guy, even when it shows him winning shows him in low 40s top.

I am not asking. About this 1 poll, I am asking. About what is really going on.

Trump has been up 5+ the entire cycle I’m NC, yea this guy seems unable to launch.

When the establishment decides to do a bunch of fake polls, it doesn’t mean they’re reliable.

One of the hills the globalist cabal has decided to die on is the fake polls.

Mind controlling us to believe their fake polls is at the top of their priorities.

Maintaining fake polls and stolen elections is worth more than money to the cabal.

When the globalist cabal is no longer able to do fake polls, they will not be able to steal elections.

for many decades the leftists have built massive polling databases of people to call... they call randomly... usually so many pubs, lefts, and now supposed independents... but what we maybe did NOT gather is that now they have cataloged the left of center “republicans” who we call RINOs and DEEPSTATE employees... and so NOW they can create a falsely “balanced poll of random calls from pre filtered LISTS that may have the right number of I’s, R’s and D’s but the actual pre-tabulated randomness is cooked in to their “database pool” so the calls are random... technically but realistically they are dead on corrupt.
polls are corrupt, cross tabs are phony, votes are irrelevant, the balloting process is corrupt and the only thing that matters is the methodology of the “counting ever ballot” process that gives us leaders we did NOT elect come november.
Until the votes are supposedly counted... everything is a push poll... with phony cross tabs. to help precondition us for the steal that is clearly in process. The nation is not “sharply divided” but the polling industry is designed to make it and keep it looking that way.
rest assured, they are showing us what they want us to believe, not how things really are.

I don’t believe any of the polls. I’m an independent in NC. Everybody I know is voting for Mark Robinson...blacks and whites. I have read NC has made it a bit harder to cheat....so we shall see come November how true that is.

He beat a female black democrat last election, so I’m not sure that’s true.

What’s going on? The stupid party strikes again. We keep putting up black conservatives and we keep getting our asses kicked: Kari Lake, Herschell Walker, John James for Senate, Daniel Cameron .... the list goes on and on. Tim Scott was appointed. Look, I personally love all of these candidates, but you have to look at reality. Blacks will not cross party lines to vote for black republicans, and these candidates do not excite the conservative white base of the R party. There is a reason why Caitlin Clark juiced up viewership of women’s CB, and why Tiger Woods juiced up minority viewership of golf in 25 years ago. This guy in NC won’t draw 10 extra blacks to his side, but he will drive away 2-4% of the conservative whites. Contrary to what MLK said, the color of a person—and not the content of their character—impacts elections.

Sorry, I am no blind follower of polls, and have called out plenty of fake polls in my day, but I have done it by showing exactly what was wrong with the polling, not by just making blanket statements that “all polling is crap” or “its a fake poll”.

If you believe the polling is fake, and that’s all that’s going on here, then you need to back it up if that’s going to be your argument.

All Polling in this race, not some, not one, all polling in this race doesn’t paint a good picture for this candidate. Even in the polls he is winning in he’s usually only getting high 30s to mid 40s.. in fact no poll has him over that at all.

If the polling is all bad, and all just completely biased, then please someone offer some substantive argument and analysis to back that up.

I am trying to get a serious answer to a serious question and all that is being offered are talking points and platitudes. I am not on the ground in NC, and am looking for someone who is that can actually put forth a cogent, defensible argument on what exactly is going on with this race. So far, I haven’t been offered anything but platitudes and talking points.

If the polls are all bad, then offer some evidence of it, but as I have already pointed out, even in polls where he is winning he is only scoring in the low 40s... that’s not a great place to be... If you assume every single poll that shows him losing is a bad poll (not likley, but even if you do) you still have him sitting in high 30s to 44%... not a great place to be.

This is an open race, no incumbent. Trump has been consistently polling 5+ there for months, yet this race, the GOP candidate seems to having a hard time. There are reasons for that, there have to be, and I’m looking for someone who’s on the ground there and willing to actually offer some serious analysis of what the state of the race is, not platitudes or talking points.

So you are claiming he’s losing due to racist white voters in NC being unwilling to vote for a black conservative candidate?

He did win the Lt governorship 4 years ago, it certainly wasn’t a blow out, but his margin of victory wasn’t that much different than what the Governor won as, even though he was the opposing party of the Governor. Seems to me if racism was the big factor he would have lost that race, especially considering dems took the governorship itself.

I’m not saying you have no point here, but seems to me given his victory in 2020 that there is something more in play than just some conservative voters are racists. We aren’t talking he’s in a nail biter here, we are looking at him unable to really get above low 40s support so far, that’s more than a few points.

IF he had lost the Lt Governorship I might tend to be more willing to accept that analysis as being enough, but given he won in 2020 statewide for lt governor... while the Dem handily won the governorship, I believe there is more in play than that.
