U.S. put a hold on an ammunition shipment to Israel

The Biden administration last week put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, two Israeli officials told Axios.

Why it matters: It is the first time since the Oct. 7 attack that the U.S. has stopped a weapons shipment intended for the Israeli military. The incident raised serious concerns inside the Israeli government and sent officials scrambling to understand why the shipment was held, Israeli officials said.

After claiming the same, Breitbart posted this.

“UPDATE: The Times of Israel reports Israel says ammunition deliveries are continuing as normal.

Speaking to Ynet, an Israeli official downplayed the Axios report, saying “Even now, a continued series of defense shipments are being sent from the U.S. to Israel.”

“It’s possible that one shipment or another is delayed, but the flow continues and we’re not aware of a policy decision to stop it,” the official added.

Israeli government spokesman David Mencer told Breitbart News on Monday that he had not seen reports of any suspension of U.S. ammunition shipments.:

Israel Military receives a significant amount of its artillery shell production, from Elbit (in Israel):

I don’t know what is true. Other reports say the US will ONLY provide defensive weapons now.

Ummmmm.

Is not the transfer of arms to Israel an Act of Congress? Dutifully signed into law by Mr. Biden?

And would it not follow, necessarily, that the law, so passed and signed, now a legal obligation of the President?

And would it also not necessarily follow that any failure to fulfill obligations thus derived, be applicable across the scope of that law? So Taiwan and Ukrainian arms shipments are also, now, similarly suspended?

Can someone please explain?

Probably, artillery ammo is redirected to Ukraine.

Guys, I’d bet this is a word game. “This shipment of ammunition is to go out in the morning at 9AM.” “No, don’t ship it out until *10*AM.” (That way he can say that he stopped or held up ammunition shipments to Israel)

I’ve found the wording on these stories to be suspect.

Texas should ship ammo to Israel, with a nice markup on price. Is there a law against it?

It is but the real reason is because we’re short on ammunition after wasting so much of it on the lost proxy war in Ukraine.

You are talking about a Democrat president. When has the law meant anything to them? E.g., the immigration laws.
