Republican Challenger [Sheehy] Pulls Ahead of Montana Senator Tester: Poll
Washington Free Beacon ^ | April 9, 2024 | Matthew Xiao

A new poll this week shows Republican challenger Tim Sheehy leading incumbent Democratic senator Jon Tester in Montana’s Senate race.

Sheehy is leading Tester 48 percent to 45 percent, with 7 percent of polled Montana voters still undecided, according to the poll released on Monday by J.L. Partners. Montana is poised to have one of the most closely watched Senate races this fall as Republicans and Democrats ramp up their fight for control of the Senate, where Democrats hold a slim 51-49 majority.

While the poll shows the Democratic incumbent enjoys greater popularity among women, younger voters, and independents, Sheehy, a businessman and political newcomer, garnered enough support from male and older voters to take the lead overall.

Interpret with caution. Tester has a big dollar advantage from dark money.

If Sheehy were to win, was this a pick up seat that Republicans were expecting to win? Or would it be a harbinger of a potentially big night for Republicans?

For Trump to be an effective President for the next 4 years, the GOP needs to control both the House and the Senate.

Sheehy needs to plaster Diaper Joe’s picture over every Tester campaign sign.

Can’t imagine he’s popular outside of Bozeman.

Tester is always “conservative” in an election year. He reverts to the Biden camp follower after he has been safely reelected with the use of Hollywood money.

That will be great if it holds up. BTW, big money does not get people elected, when there is no extra-circalunar activity (a.k.a. cheating) involved. Trump proved that to be the case in 2016. 2020 was stolen, because Biden got nowhere near 81 million votes. Had the overwhelming evidence been allowed to be presented, then it wouldn't be regarded as election denial today. That is the big lie, but it will be exposed for all to see soon.

People have got to get it through their minds that effective means DOING NOTHING. The debt is $36T. That precludes doing ANYTHING.

This Sheehy guy appears to have zero political experience. That makes him qualified because the only measure of qualification is no political experience. The contrary is defined as Swamp.

Tester seat is the 2nd most likely after WV. It wouldnt be a huge upset. WV is a give and gives us 50-50. Tester seat would be the least indicative of a great night. If Tester wins then probably the R will not win any other seats other than WV.

Tester is advertising on Newsmax here in Montana: “I voted with the Republicans to close the border that Joe Biden has opened up...”

He’s an a$$.

Voted for impeaching the man who won the state by what, 16 points?

It’s just hard to find a millionaire being the best candidate. Buy the seat while making millions off government contracts. The other ‘electeds’ just weren’t up to it. Deep red state and Tester’s been there for 3 terms. No excuse. At least the Dakotas now have 4 republican senators-hopefully.

Tester is certainly vulnerable.. whether it will come to pass we will see.

At this point with the economy in the toilet and Biden a drag across the board I’s say odds are in favor of Tester being voted out, but not heavily so.
