Jonah Goldberg's Tweet About What's Going on in Never Trump Land Is Interesting
Townhall ^ | 05/10/2024 | Matt Vespa

We’re nowhere near slam-dunk territory on this, but it’s something to watch. For Democrats, it could be an area that could produce another episode of politically induced heartburn. Jonah Goldberg is a notable anti-Trump commentator. He has been a vocal critic of the former president, though he’s returned to his classic roots amid the chaos on our college campuses. Still, while Biden has been disappointing for some Republicans who might have crossed party lines in 2020, Goldberg’s tweet about the rumblings he’s heard from within the Never Trump wing is interesting:

Fwiw. I’ve heard from a LOT of reliably anti-Trump people - I mean really, really, anti-Trump people - who have had it with Biden tonight. Anecdotal, to be sure. But very telling in my circle.— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) May 9, 2024

This development comes off the news of Biden cutting off arms shipments to Israel over their operation in Rafah, the last Hamas bastion in Gaza. The president, who has been vocal about his opposition to this operation, has already halted one shipment of bombs. He also reportedly tried to hide this information from Congress. Biden warns that more arms could be cut off should Israel continue with this offensive. It's pure lunacy.

Yet, it’s anecdotal evidence akin to tracking lawn signs during an election year. It could mean something, or it’s nothing. If he took the time to tweet it, maybe something is brewing. Biden’s already immensely unpopular, so it wouldn’t shock me. Just keep this in your back pocket. Even with hard data, like polls, nothing is certain, but some things are clear: Biden has serious issues among voter groups that are at the core of the Democratic Party, and he’s gunning for defeat if these patterns hold.

I used to really like Jonah until he went full Never Trump.

I’m not sure I could ever trust him, but I’d love to have him back.

I’ve been around for a while and one thing I’ve noticed is that liberal parties tend to allow themselves to be defeated in order to allow conservative parties to wear the blame of what liberal parties did.

Maybe that is what is happening here. Democrats know that 2024 -2028 will be potentially cataclysmic and they don’t want to be responsible for fixing the mess they created.

I know that is the way it is in Canada. Liberals spend and conservatives wear the blame when they have to fix the overspending.

Tim Miller of The BullSqueeze would probably hold it for The Tater as Ol’ Rumpleforeskin was showering with Ashley Biden...

Of all the crap the turnip has done, this is what trips the “never Trumpers”? Low IQ morons.

Maybe a few Never Trumpers will just not vote, I doubt they will vote for Trump, maybe they will vote for RFK Jr but they wont vote for Trump..just like with the majority of Jews in this country, they are programmed to vote Democrat regardless, if they have family in Israel they tend to vote Republican because they care about Israel’s survival, the ones who dont have any connection to Israel could frankly care less if Hamas destroyed it tomorrow, as long as they can get their unlimited abortions its all good

While I’m glad they won’t be voting for Biden, I can never consider them as our allies again. They hated Trump so much, they actually supported liberal policies just to spite Trump. They will never be one of us. Never. Ever.

Well, they’re very intellectual, don’t you know. Highly reasoned, look at all sides, smarter than you and me. It’s from that deep base of wisdom that they come to judgments like this

I enjoy reading these kinds of posts. But I know it really doesn't mean anything. I've hated Biden since the 80’s when he was part of the Exon Valdez investigation.

Never Trumper is just another grift. Who cares what J Jonah Goldberg thinks?

I always found Goldberg more than a little inchoate, not quite formed. Silly. I think he just thinks Trump is low-class and he wants to be a high-class guy like William F. Buckley.

Anyone who could prefer palpable evil like Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden to Trump is a fool. If that person is Jewish, the idiocy is amplified a hundred times.

In a way it’s strange that Jonah follows Tim Miller. Tim is much more anti-Trump than Jonah. In a way it’s not so strange, because they’re both kind of @holes.

I think that is spot on.

The main problem with a certain group of supposed Republicans is they think Trump and the bar of the conservative movement are “common”.

White shoe republicans is what my father always called them.

Of course, we were the Rodney Dangerfield Jews at the Bushwood Country Club. They wanted our money and our business, but didn’t really want us in the dining room.

Our economy is teetering on the precipice. The current and past administrations have increased our debt to the point that we will be crushed under its weight.

Biden is such a disaster, than even the Never-Trump crowd will be supporting Trump.

And Trump is making a play for the middle, by showing support for that idiot heading the House.

Some of the purists will say “Ugh! Because he supports McCarthy, I’m never voting for Trump!”

But then, who cares what those losers say.
