Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) told MSNBC on Wednesday there was “no question” that the economy under President Joe Biden was “strong” and “doing well.”

After MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle asked Romney during an interview why he was so optimistic about the future of the country, Romney replied, “First of all, America is an extraordinarily resilient country.”

He explained, “We just had this extraordinary pandemic, and yet our economy is strong, low levels of unemployment, it’s extraordinary, and it’s not because the president is pulling all the levers in the right way. No, it’s not. It’s because the American people are fulfilling their dreams.”

Romney has always been keenly interested in wealth building.
His own.

Wow! The internal lies this man has promoted since 2000. Yes, he ran for president as a “republican” but has represented only his GROPElite party since 1992.

Romney has his own burisma connection that no one has asked him about no doubt the Biden clan has blackmailed him good

Weird how the media, who said he was literally Hitler during his presidential campaign, is completely incurious about his Burisma chicanery.

Good picture.

Wonder if they dove into the pool of filth in The Magic Christian. Money was tossed into the murk and greedy types grabbed for it.

Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr. Song by Thunderclap Newman.

Or if they were there the day Yippie Abbie Hoffman tossed money off a balcony for Wall Street types to grovel for the bills.

Stupid Expansion Team

I met my first Cowboys fan in second grade and have detested them ever since.

I forget where you are from. IIRC—your wife is Canadian, but I may be confusing you with someone else I know associate with Christendom who I know has a wife from Saskatchewan

As a Canadian import, I applied the expansion logic and my belief that sports is an extension of politics, and so discovered that I am a natural Habs fan.

Neither the headline nor Romney mentioned Joe Biden...

The actual headline is:

Mitt Romney Tells MSNBC There’s ‘No Question’ That ‘The Economy Is Strong’ and ‘Doing Well’

Obviously Romney is out of touch with the economy that average Americans are living in, as is Joe Biden. They and everyone they know is living a fantastically rich and luxurious life.

I salute you. At times I have attempted to cut the Pope that much slack in Catholic Caucus threads, but it is a tough crowd, but have had to look to someone who seems to think he is an Orangeman for support in attempting to defend Francis.

When Romney is dead, we will be able to say, “Romney is dead, good.”

Before then, well, I do not think that my charity is likely to surpass that of Belloc, at least where Romney is concerned

Heretics All
Heretics all, whoever you may be,
In Tarbes or Nimes, or over the sea,
You never shall have good words from me.
Caritas non conturbat me.

But Catholic men that live upon wine
Are deep in the water, and frank, and fine;
Wherever I travel I find it so,
Benedicamus Domino.

On childing women that are forelorn,
And men that sweat in nothing but scorn:
That is on all that ever were born,
Miserere Domine.

To my poor self on my deathbed,
And all my dear companions dead,
Because of the love that I bore them,
Dona Eis Requiem.

Proof that Romney shouldn’t ever be President, Vice President, Senator, Representative, Governor, or anywhere near a leadership position.

His wealth may insulate him from what is happening in this country, but his ignorance for the pain Americans are feeling is inexcusable.

Pierre Delecto…. What a piece of crap this guy is.

Born and raised in Connecticut, and exposed to Cowboys’ fans only a little later than 2nd grade. Determined to hate the Cowboys and to root for a worthy foe from the NFC. That left Vikings and Rams. Stuck wuth Rams ever since.

Wife is from northern Alberta, though mother in law lived in Regina for a while.

The title is a good example of lying by omission. The entire Romney statement was "Yes, the economy is strong. There’s no question. The economy is doing well and that’s because of the American people. It’s not because of the president or the federal reserve."

But I don't believe the first part of what Romney said either.

Corruption. The same way politicians make it.

“He hate Trump more than he loves this Country!”

He made his money in private equity. Stripping US companies of their assets, outsourcing the manufacturing leaving destitute towns behind, and dumping the carcass. He cared nothing about the displaced middle class workers, the long term economic and social consequences of destroying the middle class, and the long term threat to national security of moving the jobs to China. Romney, many Wall Street investment bankers, multinational corporate CEOs, numerous corporate raiders, and the greedy corrupt politicians of both political parties enriched themselves destroying the greatest industrial infrastructure on the planet and rebuilding it in China.

On the eve of World War II the US had s completely self sufficient economy growing its own food. The nation’s diversified manufacturing sector supplyed the civilian economy and was able to be converted to war production if needed. Thanks to that industrial infrastructure, the US supplied the war materials needed to fight a global war for survival. It was a critical strategic advantage squandered by politicians and greedy business leaders in the later part of the 20th century.

Where would we be in a war for our nation’s survival today? Ukraine is demonstrating Russia and China can outproduce what remains of the US defense industry. The US is dependent on overseas manufacturing for most consumer goods and therefore the consumer goods factories are no longer in the homeland to convert to war production. The US shipbuilding industry is a shell of its former stature and the merchant marine is tiny. Many agricultural products are now imported. There is no longer a textile and apparel industry to clothe the population and the troops if we go to war. We are down to one major aircraft company (Boeing) and its quality and manufacturing capability is suspect at best. Our once strong military has become a laboratory for social experimentation instead of the most flexible and powerful fighting force on the planet.

This is the legacy of the globalist trade policies pursued by two Bush administrations, the Clinton administration, and the Obama and Biden administrations, as well as most Democrat and GOP members of Congress doing the era. Very different from the founding generation who pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to the establishment of the United States.

How will history perceive Romney and his fellow travelers? History is written by the victors, not the vanquished.
