1- Man shoots deputy in the face as he tries to enter man's house, deputy later dies.
2- Man shoots unknown civilian in the face as he tries to enter man's house, unknown civilian later dies.
Do you consider the one scenario to be a more serious crime than the other, deserving greater scorn and punishment?
Just for the sake of argument, let's say you have 2 scenarios: 1- Man shoots deputy in the face as he tries to enter man's house, deputy later dies. 2- Man shoots unknown civilian in the face as he tries to enter man's house, unknown civilian later dies. Do you consider the one scenario to be a more serious crime than the other, deserving greater scorn and punishment?
Depends on if the entry was lawful of not. If entry 1 was lawful, and entry 2 was not, they are different.
But in this case, Beck shot the deputy as he crouched behnd an SUV from his second story window. I don't think it's lawful to shoot policeman outside your home from your second story window.
