I would ask you the same question, is it a more serious crime to shoot a cop than to shoot anyone else?

In Texas, it is. The perp automatically qualifies for the death penalty.

I know that this is the case in numerous areas of the country. I certainly don't condone violence against cops OR AGAINST ANYONE ELSE, including us lowly civilians. But it really riles me when people start preaching about how the worst possible form of murder is to be a "cop-killer", as if all the rest of us somehow have second-class lives, not worthy of the same protection. When we award such status to one elite group, who also happens to be the group who has the guns, the access to the system, and with whom we are not supposed to argue, this is not looking good for the common man. Not good at all.

Immoral law.

If anything it should be the reverse, when a cop commits a crime he should face the MAXIMUM penalty that a citizen could possibly by subjected to.
