I hope that those who have made the decision to purchase firearms in light of this tragedy take the care and responsibilty neccessary to prevent other needless tragedies. In light of the terrible attack on our Country, please review your comments before posting them, exercise restraint and pray. Keep safe, fly the Flag and KABA.

"Nobody's freaking out," Buckwald said in Daytona Beach while selling 500 rounds of ammunition. "It's more a 'What if everything breaks down?' "

I think this is calm, thinking citizens whose eyes have been OPENED. I am not too worried about them going crazy and shooting their neighbors.

My husband ran out to Wal-Mart last night to get some supplies for cleaning his somewhat neglected gun. He reported that Wal-Mart had been ordered to stop selling guns but he got what he needed.

In the parking lot he found flyers reading: "Democrats . . . Still think we should cut the military budget?"

Being in L.A., you know we are the next target- it is not over. We are armed today as yesterday and the shotgun is loaded and safely stored in the house. We learned from the riots that 911 doesn't always help.

Make a statement, fly your flags and TIE A BLACK BOW AROUND THE TREE IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE. You can pick up a black plastic tablecloth for the bow (they are everywhere due to Halloween). We have three on our street and they are getting touching responses.

More like "What if the government uses this tragedy as an excuse for more gun control."

I've already got MY flags -- And I'm going to go hang mine out again to show my support for our fine men and women in the 'Defcon Delta' American Military Forces!

Ironically, in the two cities that were actually attacked, the citizens are barred from purchasing the tools of self-defense. Go figure.

Many were first-time buyers, some not even knowing how to load their weapons.

I don't like that. I like that people are buying, but I sure hope these people have at least basic training.

"To me, it seems rather fruitless that they're buying them. But, still, I think it's the frustration people feel," said owner Chuck Love, a former Marine and owner of Love's Gun & Pawn in DeLand.

"They want to do something, so that's what they're doing -- they're buying guns."

It's pretty obvious to me. People are angry at the US government on two counts: First, it stuck its nose in places it didn't belong and made needless mortal enemies; then it prevented people on airline flights from equipping themselves for defense against those mortal enemies. Now thousands of people are dead because of the US government.

When the US government causes the death of US citizens, it makes the citizens the government missed mad at the government. When people are mad at the government, they buy guns.

QED.

"Gun and flag sales peaked across Central Florida as defiant, fearful residents rushed to arm themselves Tuesday and display their patriotism."

This may be a delayed response to Janet Reno's announcement that she wants to be Governor.

Glock 9mm or Springfield 1911? It's time to buy, and while I have shot rifles/shotguns, I am pretty much clueless as to handguns. Or should I just buy another shotgun instead?

"...Gun and flag sales peaked across Central Florida as defiant, fearful residents rushed to arm themselves ...."

I challenge Senator Dianne Feinstein to again make her public statement---"...if I had 51 votes, it would be, 'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them in.'...."

Here in Greenwich, Connecticut, I walked down the main street (Greenwich Avenue). EVERY single open business had an American flag in the window, except Starbucks and a restaurant (Bleu, but it has a large window in the front that lifts up like a garage door, so there is really no front window, just an open space). Most of the stores had a paper flag from the newspaper taped up in the window, but a few businesses had large cloth flags. The newspaper shop that sells newspapers, magazines and lotto tickets had a whole bunch of flags, as the owner of the store is Middle Eastern and presumably wants to make it clear that he didn't support the attacks...
