I'm objecting to the demeaning atitude you have taken.

I see, even in your objection, you understood my point quite well. Therefore, I will consider that my statement had the desired effect. When I read nonsense, I will point it out. Sorry, if that offends you.

No, you did not have your stated desired effect. Your responses were themselves, nonsense.

Nice try, but I think I've made my point.

Medal of Honor, no doubt.

There is some question in my mind that the pentagon attack was a fall back, and that the passengers may have overcome the cabin terrorists and were heading for the cockpit.

The pentagon is so easily seen, it's a good "fall back target" if they felt they would not have time to swing around to the White House, with a team of plane passengers screaming up the aisle.

Here's some news TLBSHOW just posted from Reuters that you should know:
Federal investigators said on Thursday they could not rule out the possibility that a United Airlines jetliner that crashed in rural western Pennsylvania during this week's attacks on New York and Washington was shot down.

"We have not ruled out that," FBI agent Bill Crowley told a news conference when asked about reports that a U.S. fighter jet may have fired on the hijacked Boeing 757. "We haven't ruled out anything yet."

The Defense Department on Tuesday vigorously denied reports suggesting the U.S. military could have downed the hijacked flight in an effort to prevent it from reaching a target, perhaps in Washington.

Pennsylvania state police officials said on Thursday debris from the plane had been found up to 8 miles away in a residential community where local media have quoted residents as speaking of a second plane in the area and burning debris falling from the sky.

I'm sure you want to restore order to a chaotic and terrible situation. Your approach needs work.

These people deserve a medal for their heroism. God bless them all!

We should all follow their example should this ever happen again. The passengers clearly out numbered the terrorists. The only way the terrorists could get to their targets is through the passengers cooperation with THEM..... If this is Jihad, then we all just became part of a volunteer military.

Thanks, I had missed that story, aristeides. As to the bombs - I read/saw more than one reporter that various hijackers had little red boxes they claimed were bombs. I tend to think there were just threats designed to keep opassengers and crew that muich more complacent and unlikely to rush the hijackers.

There was a secondary "explosion" that I felt (and was reported on television at the time) about 20 minutes after the Pentagon crash -- but this could have been the Pentagon collapsing, whihc I think is what th elatest news reports claim. It could have also been the fuselage belatedly exploding . . .

I think Leonard Nemoy said it best at the end of the 2nd Star Trek Movie "The Wrath of Kahn"...

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one."

I have not ,and will not criticize those brave, poor people. And I wouldn't try to oversimplfy such a decison, ok?But from what little they knew inside the plane, as the events were unfolding, does not alter the fact that the outcome was predetermined from even existing information. The fate that befell the other planes only gave the passengers the resolve to do what they did.I am very thankful they did what they did,and I salute and honour them.

It is the same reasoning I would use if carjacked.Never let the bastards into the car and fight all the way, because the odds are against you.The pilots know even less than the passengers what's going on in the back of the plane, so what they say in this case is irrelevant, unfortunately. If the terrorists say they have bombs, but no guns to defend them, then what good is the deterrent value of such bombs? Its a stall, until the inevitable.

Please try and understand that I'm not saying this lightly or flippantly, and I hope in a crisis I would have the presence of mind to think this clearly. But, I'm also a nasty bastard that does think about this stuff from time to time and so unless my logic falls apart, I will stick with what I said. And leave it at that.

Take Care
