Those limits to liberties are acceptable to Metro Detroiters and most other Americans. A Detroit News poll Thursday found that 88 percent of Metro Detroiters are willing to "accept restrictions on movements such as metal detectors and military personnel in public places" to increase the nation's security from terrorist attacks.

They fail to do their jobs and we pay!!! I don't think so!!!

Will someone explain to me why armed men are on top of the White House if they can't protect people? I don't understand. I thought the airspace in DC was protected. Isn't that what we've been told? Wasn't a Freeper ordered out of the air because of the limited airspace around DC?

I am so happy that the congresscritters aren't the people I expect to protect me. Especially the pansy men. They almost ran over the women trying to get out of the Capital the day of the bomb scare. Their rugs were flapping in the wind they were running so fast. I bet they haven't been in that big of a hurry since the secretary's husband threatened them.

Sorry, but you're going to have to get used to it. If we are at war, on a war footing, then things are going to be different.

The typical whining interspersed with silly rhetorical braggadocio that is the hallmark of what Libertines can muster as an "argument" is now irrelevant.

This is going to have to be the case because I believe that for a time at least, the homefront is going to be a dangerous place. I believe there are people in place, having availed themselves of the advantages of a free and open society, who are ready to strike again.

I hope we will catch all of them but it is realistic to suppose we will not. Some may well wreak havoc again within our own borders.

Therefore, the silly, whimpering, whining childish tantrums of the typical Libertine are null and void.

Shut up, get in line, and work for the well-being of the WHOLE for once, instead of obsessing over what YOU think is an encroachment on your liberties. That attitude is now an encroachment on our prospects of victory.

Stop whining, Libertines.

Without sacrifice, morality turned into situational ethics.

maybe YOU can't handle freedom - you want to crawl to lick the boots of the likes of hilary and schumer.. are they going to defend you - your family? DONT BET ON IT! they have taken the lowest form in this tragedy - those that seek to deny us our freedoms

Amen.

I was really surprized at the speed with which our gov't bots put forth before the American people the need to give up personal liberties for national security. Yet, except for a need to tighten our borders, I have heard absolutely nothing about an immediate revision of our imigration policy.

How many of the terrorists were American citizens?

Why aren't illegal aliens being rounded up & detained for deportation?

Why are illegal aliens encouraged & allowed to violate the law of this land and move & live here illegally?

Why are visas given to persons that publicly spew their hatred for America & its people? NOW we see that WE are training people to destroy us & I still have heard of no reform of immigration policy.

Yes we have a right to free speech. WE being Americans in America.

Why are Americans expected to pay dearly with our liberties for the actions of people that are not American & for a gov't that regularly blames & punishes the innocent because of what the guilty have done?

What good will a national ID card for Americans do when our enemies will not be required to have one because they are not American? What good will security checkpoints on our streets do when how many of this week's terrorists were known to and ignored by the agencies that give us national 'security'?

As to gov't secured airports, we do not have a RIGHT to fly. Our airports should have been made a permanent matter of national security many years ago, IMO, when highjackings were commom.

If, for whatever reason, I do not want to be searced to board a flight, then I can choose not to fly. WE do not have a RIGHT to get from point A to point B as fast as possible!

For those of you falling for the gov'ts 'need to give up rights' hype, please clarify in your mind the differences between rights & privileges. Are those same rights being taken away from nonAmerican citizen terrorists? Tell me how your giving up Constitutional RIGHTS (not priviliges), would have protected us from this attack?

These are questions I am posing to my elected officials. I'll let you know what responses I get from Michigan's bunch of socialists that have sworn to uphold the Constitution, but don't hold your breath. One (Levin) never responds, the other two (Stabenow, Rivers) take up 6 weeks to respond.

You just got to be the enemy CJ. Why else take the name Jihad.

It comes from Frank Herbert's novel "Dune" which describes the "Butlerian Jihad." The novel is replete with Arabic words.

All you FR jihadists are making very serious and unsupported charges [such as the above] at your fellow americans and FR members.

You are wrapping yourself in the flag, & cloaking yourself with patriotism, to wrongy exaggerate the legitimate political opinions of those you falsely consider to be your enemies.

Such tactics are reprehensible.

amen, brother - how do they get out of bed in the morning with no spine and no brain attached?? maybe their families would be better off with a real man who would protect them himself instead of a sniveling bedwetters who constantly bows to their masters when confronted with danger- they are pathetic

IILBAY,

Your cure is as bad as the disease, I hope that was said sarcastically, because if it wasn't, you are traitor to the constitution and all that it stands for.

Just get on the train like a good little citizen, we will protect you, hey, fire up those ovens will you?

Come on IIlbay, you need to pull your head out. The founding fathers knew that if the citizens did not have responsibility and the power to enforce thier OWN security, then the constitution meant nothing. The Government is not allowed to encroach on our freedoms and liberties, even during wartime, read it again!!! When you give up freedoms, YOU NEVER GET THEM BACK!!! This is a fact!!

Fight for what you have left, because when they are gone, THEY'RE GONE!!!

With freedom comes responsibility, the problem is that no one wants to be responsible anymore!!

Tell that to the rock musicians who encourage people to go out and destroy themselves. They're laughing all the way to the bank, shirking their responsibilities, and the libertines are lauding their "right" to be irresponsible.

One of the most amusing things that I've noticed about Libertines is they really believe that (1) they are the ONLY ONES that "get it"; and (2) American history began the day they were born.

We have been in this situation several times before in our history. To whit, every time we've been in a hot war. The civil war period was RIFE with suspension of civil liberties. At the end of the conflict, things invariably return to normal because Americans don't want it any other way.

The strict Libertine view of things would be that things like "gas rationing" (which I very much believe is going to become a reality soon) and the draft are outrageous encroachments of "the state" on our liberties.

Fine. I hope your whining will comfort you, because these things are going to happen, most likely. I guess you can go to Canada or South America, somewhere that "the state" can't ask of you more than YOU are willing to pay.

To the rest of us, we always knew you were disloyal to anything other than your own hedonistic interests, so it'd be no surprise.

BTW, your glorious leaders, upon whose name I spit, and which name I have vowed NEVER to utter again on FR, has already made some outrageously adolescent rantings about the current state. As far as I'm concerned he is a self-absorbed traitor to this nation.

You're a PERFECT example of someone who thinks that the entire world was on hold until he was born.

You are demonstrably ignorant about history. Read some of the history of the domestic front during the Second World War and then try to tell me that **** with a straight face.

Pathetically ignorant, my friend. Pathetically.
