Are Americans.

Let's Act Like It.

Friday, September 14, 2001 12:01 a.m. EDT There's a famous photo of a Japanese-owned grocery store in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor with these words emblazoned across the front: "I AM AN AMERICAN." It accurately encapsulates the way many of us in the Islamic and Arab community feel at this hour. As it becomes ever more apparent that our co-religionists have visited slaughter upon our compatriots, so many of us want to declare from the rooftops our allegiance to this great nation, to show our solidarity with our fellow citizens, and to join the fight against our common enemy.

Where is the fatwa against bin Ladin from American imams?

American Muslims: your countrymen lie dead. Many of them were Muslim. Bin Ladin murders the innocent and profanes the Quran and Mohammed by pretending that to speak for Islam.

If writing a naughty book is worthy of a fatwa, isn't this?

I heard a question by a reporter to a leader of the Arab-American community in the US.... he said, what is this community doing to help find and expose the terrorists? I guess that's the question, how many tips have been called in? We may never know but it seems to me that those in this community would be more likely to have relevant information than someone like me who rarely encounters someone from the middle east.

Arab Americans do not need to do either more or less than any other American to prove their allegiance.

Funny...so many Freepers claim to be against the Balkanization of this country by politicians for political gain. How many times have I read on this board that we should just get rid of the hyphen-Americans that the race warlords and leftists use to divide us and refer to us as Americans.

Those who profess to believe this but now single out Arab Americans for special scrutiny are hypocrites. If you are an American citizen, I don't care what color your skin is or what religion you follow, or if you own guns, and neither should you.

I hear you friend. I manage a neighborhood bar and grill surrounded by Arab/Muslim grocery stores, liquor stores, 99 cents stores, and gas stations. I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT PUT UP AN AMERICAN FLAG outside. Yes, I'm really pissed. I will not treat them any different for NOT doing the same, however, they DO need to show the same support!

I see that many of us have been well trained in "sensitivity", whether they will admit it or not. (Most likely self trained and self censored.) No, the internment camps will not happen again. And that is too bad, because the silence from the Arab Ametrican community, except to claim the victim status, has been stunning. Yesterday (Saturday) a former Secret Service agent interviewed on FOX said he was apalled that a Muslim imam who had led an anti -American demonstration a year earlier at Lafayette Park was invited to speak at the Washington Cathedral service on Friday (Sorry I didn't note the names!) His concern was dismissed by the FOX daytime newsguy with the usual "free country, free speech" claptrap.

We must not repeat the travesty of the Japanese Internment during WWII.

Why?

I keep hearing this but, I am not convinced it was a travesty. Unfortunate, yes. I hope the people weren't mis-treated but, I understand the percieved need to do this. I hope we don't enter an era where we are terrorized as the Israelis are. We may again see the need to separate ourselves from a large group of specific people. This is war.

I can hear my co-religionists now, arguing that the Muslims bear no special responsibility for these attacks, that a community of six million law-abiding Americans should not apologize just because a few of them committed a crime.

The Muslims of America do not have to apologize for something they didn't do.

The people who did this will be punished.

Nonetheless, it is disturbing that the Muslim-American community is behaving like any other special-interest racial group in America, with its leadership more concerned about imagined victimhood than in unity with other Americans. The balkanization of this country continues.

Meanwhile, the quiet memorials and ceremonies and church services I've witnessed in America bear no resemblance to the angry shouting that I see among Muslims when even one of their number is killed. And should one of our bombs accidently harm innocents in Afghanistan, you won't see children dancing and laughing in the streets of America in celebration.

There's a difference between the Cross of Christ and the Sword of Mohammed.

Well, TJ, here's a story for you:

On Tuesday, my spouse was at work, and keeping the TV on to get news while I was working at a federal facility. A business meeting between the Korean owner and another Korean national was going on at the time. The owner kept turning the TV off. The other Korean actually had the incredible stupidity to laugh at a scene of the attack. Spouse flies off the handle. Sparks fly, meeting is moved off site, TV remains on. Guess who jumps in on the American side? It was the Bosnian Muslim who works there. I don't blame ya for being mad, but don't jump to conclusions.

Guess what bozo. I haven't put up a flag in front of my business either, and I can list 20 other businesses in my town who are also owned by white males who haven't either. Doesn't mean squat...some people don't feel a need to display their beliefs.

You're exhibiting exactly the logic of statists everywhere, including this country. Gee, we just can't trust those Arabs, now, can we? Awhile back, it was Gee, we just can't trust those gun owners now, can we? Better register them Arabs. Better register them gun owners.

Memo to Texas_Jarhead...pull your head out of the jar...you need oxygen bad, boy.

I just did a Google for Islamic forum, and found:

http://www.sunnah.org/forum/enter.htm

There's a post there blaming Israel for the attack. So much for Islamic truth and justice. What a corrupt religion!

Why?
Because they were citizens of the United States and the Constitution of the United States prohibits the government from imprisoning citizens for indeterminate times with no charges.

I will if they will.

Mr Masoud is evidently already educated beyond his intelligence.
It is entirely appropriate that when Mass Murder on a wholesale scale is perpetrated, that the perpetrators need to be found ASAP.
I doubt that even a sleeper would go to the trouble of getting citizenship. Let's see if this is clear enough for our room-temperature IQ liberal Freepers...

Muslims who are here illegaly and other Muslims who are here as temporary guests who verbalize hatred towards their hosts, should be deported immediately.
And the remaining Mass Murderers still loose among us should be found and stopped; dead or alive.

Is that clear enough?
Note there is no mention anywhere of American citizens.

I have a feeling that before this is all over, we are going to find out that some home grown terrorists are involved too. I have a bad feeling that this is a massive coodinated effort of many many terrorist organizations both foreign and domestic.

Bump!

This fine young man hits the nail on the head. I have been reading Arab-American websites and checking the news stories that have been popping up about the anticipated and feared wave of anti-arab prejudice that is sure to come. But I keep feeling that something is missing frim these expressions of condolences and the whining about how they face twice the psychic damage from this tragedy becuase they have to "keep looking over their shoulders," and how "we don't yet know who did these crimes" etc. They just don't want to deal with the reality that the great majority of the terror in the last 30 years has been perpretated in the name of the Islamist cause, or at least for the political purpose of Arab regimes. They refuse to denounce all suicide bombers, because the ones who blow up teenagers in Israeli discoteques are "different" because, well, because they are part of a "struggle" against Israeli policies vs, the Palestinian people.

The Arab-American Anti-Discrimination website describes a poll taken of Americans asking them about their impressions of Palestinians, etc. They seem shocked and a bit huffy that Americans, across the board, find suicide bombings of innocent civilians unacceptable. Reading this, I get the feeling that they believe that with the right marketing and focus group campaign that americans can be persuaded that such bombings are a legitimate form of social protest.

If these guys are good, patriotic Americans, then announce that they are going to volunteer to help the FBI by infiltrating the terror fifth-columns that exist to support the murdering monsters that have attempted to decapitate the American nation. Stop trying to out-victim the true victims, suck it up, expect that a few isolated nut jobs are going to harrass or even attack you, and work to make America safe to live in. Tell your cousins and uncles back in the Old Country to stop the horrible propaganda about America that calls us a Zionist-controlled puppet. I swear, the kind of loony tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory stuff that the anti-American Arabs spew out is as bad or worse than the crap the Aryan nations and their ilk barf up.

I would say to the Arab-American community: Sign up for the armed forces, roll bandages, give to the Red Cross. You don't hear New Yorkers whining now, do you? Then neither should you.

Just one man's opinion.
