Are Americans.

Let's Act Like It.

Friday, September 14, 2001 12:01 a.m. EDT There's a famous photo of a Japanese-owned grocery store in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor with these words emblazoned across the front: "I AM AN AMERICAN." It accurately encapsulates the way many of us in the Islamic and Arab community feel at this hour. As it becomes ever more apparent that our co-religionists have visited slaughter upon our compatriots, so many of us want to declare from the rooftops our allegiance to this great nation, to show our solidarity with our fellow citizens, and to join the fight against our common enemy.

Thought I should report that my across-the-street Arab-Muslim neighbors are flying their American flag at half-mast.

I am not a Serb....I know lots of them...I work with GENUINE refugees....not illegals.

I must tell you that yesterday some Bosnian muslims refugees who live in my city said that they would HELP the mujahaideens....they LOVE them!! THEY WERE BRAGGING AND ARGUING with the Serbs in the same apartments and were waving GREEN FLAGS with Abrabic looking writings on them!!!

I saw this, as I was delivering clothes to some African refugees. My daughter heard more things about the party from her friend the apartment manager.

BACKGROUND:
You see several years ago, I met these same refugees at their new apartments...they had been in Bosnia. After working to help them to get clothes and the usual household items...I was invited by another set of them who had been here for about 1 year and could speak English pretty well...especiallly the older teenagers. It was a birthday party and some other sort of party.

AH......the ENTERTAINMENT!! It was a film of their military "exploits" in Bosnia. Let's see...My West Point educated, career Army dad,my Navy vet husband and I thought it was just a "film" but as it turned out...THEY SAID IT WAS REAL and actually thought that we would enjoy it!! UCK!!!

IT WAS the mujahadeen....and their Bosnian allies...Now, these guys were SO PROUD of their associations with them. My husband and I had not at that time become really interested in the Balkans....ah, we were "with the rest of the sleeping sheepels". In fact....we believed that crap about the Serbs being "villians".

That being said...we are not fans of war...or films thereof...so, we made rapid exit!! I must tell you...IT WAS WAY BEYOND DISGUSTING!!! My dad said that thought the nazis were BAD but these devils were WORSE!!

Before we did manage to leave ...we heard from these Bosnians how happy they were to "BUTCHER SERBS LIKE PIGS and roast their bodies". In fact, it was stressed to my husband that the mujahadeen had killed hundreds of "PIG SERBS" that way! They laughed and said,"THAT they did NOT eat the PIGS"!!

We never returned for that reason AND I must hasten to add...that we also thought...people who can afford to party, drink and smoke...do not NEED OUR HELP!

Plus, I must add that we had helped several families from bosnia....and one man was especially nasty and said that we could help ONLY his family or FACE trouble from him. We stopped helping him Immediately!!

Oh, and that selfish jerk from bosnia went on to be arrested for selling liquor to teens in the "club" he opened for bosnians.

Our experiences with 99% bosnian refugees here, ALMOST made us stop assisting refugees because they abused the gifts of friendship and were just awful folks! WHAT A WASTE!!

I agree that no one should harm AMerican muslims.

But there is more to this--

Firstly, WE SHOULD bear in mind, the next time Israel and The palestinians call on us the fact that most Paelstinians celebrated the murder of our people. This is unforgivable and America should NEVER FORGET IT

Secondly, if Arab looking people go on a plane I see nothing wrong with security giving them a little more attention than the other passengers, PC be damned, because otherwise after all this I ain't goin on a plane with a group of Arab men, would you?

Thirdly, we DO need to re-examine and change our immigration policies. These people lived in our country, this was a serious mistake, and again PC be damned we can't afford to make this mistake again.

Fourth, someone on a radio call in show said that this is not a "muslim problem" well, yes and no. most Muslims do not go on suicide bombing runs, no doubt. BUT do we see any other group of people doing this (outside of looney tunes McVey)? NO. Sadly there is a proneness to extreme fanatacism among SOME Arabs, it is a cultural more than a religious thing. And while we should not blame evey Muslim for it there does come with it a special responsibility for all Muslims that do not want to be blamed for that mindset to condemn it and work to root it out. For our sakes and theirs.

In my neighborhood, all around, businesses are flying the Colors or have put up signs of support and the like. In the midst of this outpouring there are five Arab owned/operated conventient stores and gas stations. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM HAS FLOWN THE AMERICAN FLAG OR MADE ANY EFFORT WHATSOEVER TO DEMOSTRATE THEIR OPPOSITION TO THE ATTACK OR TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR AMERICA. This is in striking contrast to the many oriental owned businesses that are flying flags or have just put a hand written poster of support in their windows. Perhaps I'm over-sensitive right now but it really ticks me off.

Oh, please. If you are so intellectually dishonest that you will write something that damns people with faint praise and leave your assumptions as inferences to be drawn, then feign righteous indignance when someone points out your hypocrisy, then leave. It doesn't take a genius to put the simplistic one plus one tone of your rant together.

I am appalled at the bigoted tone so many people have taken on these boards since a bunch of non-american citizen islamic extremists killed a bunch of American citizens...more likely than not, a lot of American citizens who were Muslim and of Arab descent died in those towers too.

Apologize to the people you have slandered and I will retract my statements. Otherwise, I stand by my advice to you. Better hurry...the brain can only live a few minutes without oxygen. It may already be too late.

when muslims become americans first and speak out against the infidel and the millions that support him and his actions, then i'll listen. they can help us rat out the militants in their mosques and that they know are in the 'racket' of murderous fatwa/jihad.

This is a wonderful reply by a clear thinking young man, but what scares me is this:

http://answering-islam.org/Silas/terrorism.htm

We are safe if ,like many Christians of this nation who pick and chose the tenets of their faith a la carte, American Muslims do the same. How many do not? Do you know? I don't. Until I get a feel for that I will feel very uncomfortable, especially with all the talk of "sleeper agents" in this nation. Am I a racist because of that? I doubt it. Paranoia is just a heightened sense of reality.

"To be American is to shed your "national sentiments" and swear your allegience to America. That is a part of the citizenship oath."

You just said it all. You are an American or you are not.

"God Bless Mr. Masoud and those like him. (It's about time you spoke up!)"

And God preserve him and his family, for I'm afraid that those speaking out against these factions will be persecuted from within.

If you need a religion, pick one which does not preach hate towards "unbelievers". Use your koran to wipe your ass.

In the last few days I've heard Arab/Muslims calling on radio shows and interviewed on television. Each one expresses sorrow for lost lives, etc. and then comes the BUT... After the sympathy come expressions that cast doubt on the sincerity of the sympathy. I try to be fairminded and don't want to see anyone harassed for their beliefs but their reaction leaves me greatly suspcious of our Arab citizens.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. However, we will definitely be opening our home to that Bosnian family, as well as some Indian friends should they need us. We'll be doing other things as well. As to the Bosnians, war does freaky things to people. Our friends got out with a certain grisly humor along with the nightmares, but it isn't much different than the one Americans came home from Viet Nam with. And as with most of our Viet Nam vets, these folks didn't let what they saw ruin their sense of right and wrong. It is you and I who have to take personal responsibility for for what America is and what Americans can be. Hope you'll decide to keep doing what you can.
