SPECIAL EDITION
Tonight, the citizens of the United States and people throughout the world saw a man with passion, principle, and resolve, lead a united effort in the war on terrorism. In a speech being hailed as one of the best modern era speeches ever given, President George W. Bush spoke to a joint session of Congress regarding the attack on America. The President outlined just who the war on terrorism is against, but also revealed specifics as to who they are and what they stand for. He also powerfully reiterated that the United States and countries united with us will not stand for actions like this any longer. In one of the strongest statements in his speech, the President said, 'Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists', surely a outward warning to those who are waivering in their decision to join us in this war.
After the President's 40+ minute speech, the standard opposition party response was also historic for it was not an opposing view, but a stand with each other as one united front of principle and resolve.

I have been "lurking" on these "Day in the Life" threads since before the President's working "vacation", but have never posted before tonight.
All I can say is am so proud of this man, and proud of the way our country has pulled together after this horrible attack. I truly feel that America is blessed to have "W" as our President.
As an ex-military wife, I know firsthand the fear that many families face as our troops move out, please continue to keep them, as well as our President, in your thoughts and prayers.

We are in the presence of GREATNESS! May God continue to guide this good man and Magnificent Leader.
One commentator said he'd just seen Prince Hal turn into King Henry V!!!!!!! (Of course WE have known that Dubya, now President Bush, always has had true grit as well as gravitas now.) I'm proud to have ALWAYS been a Bush Babe.

In just the short time George W. Bush has been President, he has become a president for all Americans. Eight months to the day.
In his speech at the Republican convention, I felt, for the first time in 8 years, HOPE for the future of this country. Eight months ago today, in his Inaugural speech, I wept because that hope I felt was made even stronger. Tonight, I am overwhelmed that God is moving mightily through this fine man who has yielded his life to God's will, not only for him, but for the country he loves.
Praise God for George W. Bush!!

Wow, good to hear about your mother-in- law! I am amazed, but then that was some fantastic speech! You must be tickled pink, mtngrl!Well, I am not deluding myself into thinking that she has had a change of heart. She is still, and will always be, a liberal. She lived through the great depression and I think that that experience made her a lifelong DemocRAT. The next time she thinks that President Bush is "coddling the weathier Americans at the expense of the poor", she will be against him again. However, she is a good person despite her liberal leanings.
It's just that I could see tonight that she truly liked the things that she heard President Bush saying. She is a patriot first and a DemocRAT second. Hm....that sounds like an oxymoron!

You saved this pic for me! I was reduced to tears when President Bush pulled that Badge out of his pocket and told of Officer Howard's story.
Thank you for providing this thread to all of us. This is, without a doubt, the greatest set of pics yet.
What a great site it was to see all of the kids at the back of the House chamber trying desperately to get President Bush's attention to shake his hand.
I think he could have stood up there and said, "Look around this room tonight. Enough said!" And not have given his speech. But I am so glad that he did.

Wonderful address and let's keep covering the President and his family with lots of prayer. Watching and praying this presidency will fullfill all the good plans that God has for us at this hour. Thank God for enduing him with His wisdom and strength. Blessed be God for blessing America with His mercy. And yes, what a nice tie he wore. THanks a bundle Rintense!

I don't know know how many of you have read the book of Esther in the Old Testament... but a better story has never been written... it holds your attention from beginning to the end.
In today's literature the Book of Esther would stay on the best seller list for months.
Anyway, as our president talked tonight, I remembered the words of Esther's uncle who, when Esther was in fear of her life, said, (I am paraphrasing) "For if you hold your peace at this time [snip] your enemies will enlarge and come from another place; but you and your father's house shall be destroyed: and who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? "
Does that not sound appropriate? He does seem born to the job and the time we are living in, doesn't he?..... like he was anointed of God.
FYI.... the Book of Esther is totally history, an amazing, true story..... and surprisingly.... in the entire book there is no mention of God and no use of the word Lord or other forms of that word. (that is my trivia for tonight.)
