That's not true. They thought they would overrun the Russians so fast that they would be enjoying a nice winter in Moscow, from indoors.

Hitlers defeat at the hands of the Russians was in part a failure in tactics, part the underestimation of the enemy and mostly the delusions of a meglamaniacal lunatic that wouldn't accept a strategic withdrawal.

Failure to properly forage had nothing to do with it.
