City Councilman Joe Addabbo, hosted a renaming ceremony in the memory of FDNY Chief John Moran, who died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. A portion of the Boardwalk at Beach 118 Street was re-named Chief John Moran Way in honor of the slain chief. Pictured, Addabbo presents a copy of the new street sign to Morans mother, Margaret Moran.
Morans wife, Kim, stifles a cry as the sign is revealed. Her two sons, Ryan and Dylan are with her.
Morans brother, Firefighter Mike Moran, made national news when, on national television, he told Osama binLaden to kiss my royal Irish ass.
Morans sister, Ellen talked about her brother and how much he loved Rockaway and Beach 118 Street. He was brought up here and he chose to bring his kids up here as well, she said.
Neighbors look at pictures of Morans life posted in front of his Beach 118 Street home.
The new street signs designating the street as Chief John Moran Way.
Firefighters from Ladder 137/Engine 238 present the colors.
Ryan Moran, the slain chiefs older son, looks up as he raised the American Flag to half-staff over Beach 118 Street and the Boardwalk.
God bless you BCM. God Bless America.
Seven years later, and there are some suggesting that we need “to get over it.”
I, for one, will never “get over it.” I will always remember this day.
God Bless you, Chief Moran. And God Bless all your fellow fire fighters and police officers - those men and women that go running in while we go running out.
We miss you.
BCM,
You are not forgotten!! I hope God is holding you in as high esteem as we are here.
I remember visiting the Pentagon early in the reconstruction after 9/11. There was a small tree planted across from the damaged part of the Pentagon, and a make-shift memorial/shrine had been set up there. I recall seeing something for BCM, and something for Barbara Olsen. I figure some Freeper had put those there. BCM, as well as the rest of those people, will never be forgotten.
GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS AND EVERY ONE WHO FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM.
Another change I noticed is that they have dropped the "firefighter" PC nonsense and started calling them firemen again.
The part I like best is when they start leaving in bunches and go back to being their usual cheerful, jokey selves again. They are beautiful.
You’ll never be forgotten, chief.
I remember his posts — pre 911 obviously
Woke up thinking of BCM and other first responders who gave their lives 8 years ago today. My prayers are with them and their families.
Not forgotten.
Never.
God bless you sir...you will live thru all of us.
Rest in Peace, John
We miss you BCM...
Bump for BCM and all the other brave firefighter and police who perished that horrible day 15 years ago.
I am cross posting this from a 9/11 rememberence thread.....
RIP freeper BCM...aka Battlion Chief Mike Moran NYFD. You and other freepers may know him by his brother who was the man who told Hillary to kiss his royal Irish ass at the memorial event.
I will always remember flying about a month after 9/11, Standing in front of the ticket counter early in the morning at sea tac airport.
As Im standing at the counter I can feel the floor rumbling and shaking because the luggage trams are running beneath the ticket counter.
It is actually shaking me up-and-down and at that exact moment the public address system begins paging Mike Moran pick up the courtesy phone.
I got choked up and almost lost it because it felt like God was sending me a message.
The ticket agent was looking at her computer monitor and asked me if I had a seat preference just seconds aftet this.
My reply was related to the fear we all had that 9/11 could happen again which is why I said wherever I can be of most use.
She looked up at me, digested that statement while staring at a broad shouldered fit man, and placed me in the first row behind 1st class, on the aisle.
This was before I became a police officer but still had that Do Your Duty mindset.
Rest In Peace BCM and thank you for your service and sacrifice.
9/11/2020 - This time the attack comes from within
19 years on...RIP forever
