Of course the vulgarity is worse now but so are many things. Such as women refusing to raise their young themselves and foisting the responsibility on to people with no vested interst in the child's well being.

No. What a pointless point. I said they never had any opinions on porn before they became judicial activists and decided to read things into the constitution that weren’t there – like exemptions to the first amendment.

Furthermore, you should be able to come up with some supporting evidence that the Framers of the Constitution considered the obscene to be worth protection under the First Amendment
That’s easy – “Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press

(which only mentions 'speech' and 'the press' by the way, ie. political opinions).

Please cite your basis for this insane, completely and utterly wrong point. Are you suggesting that Congress has the right to dictate what songs we are allowed to sing about shoes?

You see, at that time it was unimaginable that the "press" could contain photographs of people having sex. It just wasn't thought of yet.

Fine, so amend the Constitution. Meanwhile, it says "Congress shall make NO law...."

I'm single, and have no daughter. If I did, I probably wouldn't care for it, but if she wasn't being forced, I wouldn't want laws to stand in her way. I'd just voice my disapproval in many other ways.

Pornography is degrading and condescending to all women and on the same level as the terrorists. Some of them loves ogling and soliciting the women they hated.

Yeah, porn is the same as slamming two loaded airplanes into skyscrapers.....I'm sure you'll win a lot of people over with that argument.

Grow up guys and get over paper dolls.

Really? So the following image "Join or Die" that Ben Franklin printed in his newspaper to encourage people to join the revolution was not thought of by him as political speech? Surely you jest.

Concentrate proven wrong

If anyone knows how to implant this directly in to this thread, please do. It should be a useful reminder to those whose limited knowledge about printing presses leads them to believe that the founding fathers did not know that printing presses could print images.

I didn't say that crude, meaning very simple, unclear images weren't technologically feasible at the time, only that the spirit of the First Amendment's freedom of speech and of the press does not extend to pornographic photographs. Sure there existed drawings as in the Kama Sutra, but I still maintain that it was political speech and text that the Framers had in mind. Otherwise, they would have included "freedom of the paintbrush" or "freedom to create sexual images" or something like that.

Do the "Federalist Papers" or any other writings penned at the time contain reference to pornographic images? I doubt it.

He's not stupid at all- he's just sick. Really, the root cause of this extreme use of pornography and the making of pornography is the complete lack of values and supportive families. I know so many men who have the flicker of greatness but were raised in very sick environments- usually single mothers who were sick and twisted (this is not a slam on all of them- just these in particular,) childhood abuse, and early exposure to sex, drugs, and alcohol. The porn is fuel on the fire, though, and helps the cycle perpetuate itself.

You and my husband, both, but at least he had the sense to understand my point- regardless of whether it changed him.

If you are involved in a relationship with a woman and she becomes pregnant- are you responsible if she has an abortion? Are you responsible if you knew she would and yet didn't stop her?

Granted, these women use birth control, but as we all know- it's not 100%!! (Ask Ross on Friends...)

Ok, so this woman's job is porn- she makes her living with her legs spread, right??? So, can she afford an unplanned pregnancy? Even if she gets paid leave for the extent of the pregnancy (haha,) what might that do to her figure? (Yes, many of us escape pregnancy unscathed, but you don't know 'til the end if that will be the case.)

Considering the rate of intercourse in this line of work, how many unplanned pregnancies do you think happen? How many do you think result in a live birth?

So, in effect, you are supporting an industry that encourages abortions. Do you give money to Planned Parenthood? NARAL? Would you shop at Wal-Mart if you knew they not only encouraged abortions, but also encouraged the behavior that resulted in the pregnancies to begin with?

Maybe it's a little bit deep for someone who would rather just have an opinion but be unwilling to examine their possible contribution to the problem...
