The Free Republic Catholic Caucus

Hey no-meat-eaters-on-Fridays-during-Lent!

There are a ton of us Catholic Freepers out there, this is our little thread in the big big world. This is just my way of attempting to get to know people just like me.

A few links I enjoy:

www.vatican.va - the Holiest Web Site on Earth
www.scripturecatholic.com - providing Scripture references to support the teachings of the faith

And lastly, I post a joke I once heard on Free Republic:

What is the difference between a Catholic and a Protestant? Catholics wave to each other in the liqour store.

The Neverending Story Thread

Poland: Still the World's Most Catholic Country

Hello, fellow Catholic Freepers, and hello to you johniegrad. I keep trying to engage the extreme Protestants on FR, but I have finally decided it is useless except on rare occasion. When they attack us or attack Our Lady, the Eucharist, the Holy Father, or the Church, I think I will simply and consistently respond by saying: "God bless you. I will pray for your healing." Others recommend not responding at all, but I think we need to bless those who curse us as Our Lord taught us.

I have to fly today from Damascus, Syria and will end my journey eventually in Cairo. Please keep me in your prayers. God bless.

From Merriam-Webster:

Caucus (2nd def.): a group of people united to promote an agreed-upon cause.

How's that?

You need to come here to the suburban and rural MIDWEST-- conservative catholism abounds

We lived in W. Lafayette IN for about 9 months while Sir SuziQ taught at Purdue. We belonged to a very nice Parish; I was in the choir and everything.

Didn't pay much attention to the politics, just tried to survive the WINTER which seemed to last from the time we got there in August to the time we left in June! Lord have Mercy, that's the coldest I've EVER been in my life!!

The mystery of the Trinity always baffled this old Catholic lad while at St. Albertus Grade School through St. Elizabeths High School, and still to this very day? However, I am still a believer now and forever!

Thank you for the notification.

I just thought I would also flag a couple of my fellow Roman Catholic monarchists.

Southern by birth, convert by the grace of God (1985). Hoping to live and die a loyal son of the Church.

Reading the postings of well-meaning but confused non-Catholics here at FreeRepublic brings to mind a line from Msgr. Escriva's Furrow. At Point 354, the soon-to-be-canonized priest and founder writes, "you have a great desire truly to love the Church, and all the greater, when you see that those who wish to make her appear ugly are more active. This seems very natural to me: because the Church is your Mother."

And I second Father Elijah's recommendation.
