Cynthia McKinney Must Go

By Bruce Bialosky

FrontPageMagazine.com | October 19, 2001

TREASON is defined in Webster's dictionary as a "violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state." The dictionary defines anti-Semitism as 'discrimination against or prejudice or hostility toward Jews.'  Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-Georgia) may not be guilty of either treason or anti-Semitism, but her avoidance of guilt is equivalent to tap dancing on the head of a pin.

The reason Ms. McKinney has brought herself to this position is a letter she wrote to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

The prince is the gentleman who tried to give $10 million to New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to help in the New York relief effort.  All was fine until the prince said: " We must address some of the issues that led to such a criminal attack.  I believe the government of the United States of America should re-examine its policies in the Middle East."   At that point, Mayor Rudy told the Prince where to stick his money and made clear that the heinous act was not justified by U.S. policy toward Israel.  Mayor Rudy made clear that Israel was not going to be the scapegoat for these defenseless actions.

In steps Ms. McKinney to tell the prince in a long diatribe against our country, Israel and civilization as we know it, that she can put his $10 million to good use solving the problems of America.  Her masterpiece of mischief twists the words of great Americans such as Robert Kennedy, Henry Hyde and Zbigniew Brzezinski to imply that there are real leaders who accept her viewpoint.

Ms. McKinney goes on to attack Israel for its actions in the Middle East and places blame on the only democracy and only true ally of America in the region for the troubles that exist there.  McKinney is clever as she invokes the name of lofty sounding institutions such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch to crucify Israel.

Human Rights Watch has on its website a form letter to be sent to President Bush asking him to be tolerant of the people in the countries we might be attacking and be careful not to harm innocents.  Unfortunately, I did not see one to bin Laden and his fellow terrorists asking them to be careful of innocents while disbursing anthrax.

Amnesty International has its own challenges.  This enlightened group's spokesperson, when asked about the Durban Conference proposal to equate Zionism with racism, stated that Amnesty International was not ready to make that statement at this time.  Amnesty International did not say this moral equivalency concept is horrible.  They did not say to equate Zionism with racism was anti-Semitic.  No, they said they were not ready to equate Zionism with racism at this time.

But Ms. McKinney's attack on Israel was not enough.  She then turned her venom on her own country.  Oh, how this horrible country has mistreated blacks and how ashamed she is of America's actions.  She states how our justice system executed innocent black men. How are medical system is structured to let blacks die without medical care. She goes on to state that Black Americans are being shut out of Congress by the crippling court decisions limiting affirmative action and the Voting Rights Act.  She tells how the FBI has stated it has a purpose of destroying black leaders and organizations.  Ms. McKinney ends by stating the statistics are very grim for Black America.

All of this shows how out of touch this lady is with her country.  She has not noticed since the bombings on September 11th that there is no "Black America" if there ever was one.  We are all Americans – plain and simple.  The pride in America that I have seen from Blacks is no different than from other Americans.   Even if there was a "Black America," the Blacks clearly realize that things are a lot better for them here in the country they love than it would be under the regime of the House of Saud.

Ms. McKinney does not seem to realize this country she is trashing is the one that gives her the voice to trash it.  If she were in Saudi Arabia, she would be veiled and cleaning floors or serving as a concubine.  How shortsighted some people can be.

Senator Zell Miller (D-Georgia) has branded the statement by the Congresswoman as trash.  The question is where are the rest of the Democrats?  Where are Dick Gephardt and Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leadership of the House?  Where are Joe Lieberman, Bill Clinton and Al Gore?  This woman sits on two vital committees - Armed Services and International Relations – and should be forced to withdraw her statements or be removed.

Someone might say she has not technically violated her oath of office.  But Webster's dictionary has another definition of treason. It is a betrayal of a trust or confidence. Under this definition of treason, she is certainly guilty.

Cynthia McKinney Must Go

Agreed, but don't hold your breath.

If the Congressional "leaders" allow the Barney Franks, Red Dullums, and Gary Condits to stay, McKinney will certainly stay.

Horse manure!

All McKinney is guilty of is exercising her rights as an American and as a legislator.

That makes her a lot less dangerous to American liberty than constantly whining bellyachers who decry every opposing point of view as 'treason.'

Maybe she can get a job at Jesse Jackson's Rainbow-PUSH - though even the Revvvvvvvvvvrand Jackson might not want her.

There are many on FR who consider themselves "conservatives" yet share Ms. McKinney's views on Israel.
